Mari has the scoop for you... Greetings {NAME}! Well, check this out: after spending the last several years striving to clone the heck out of Snapchat and TikTok, Head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, announced that the company plans on returning to its roots this year: PHOTO SHARING. Mosseri admitted that Instagram "overfocused on video in 2022." He does weekly Q&A's in his IG Stories and was answering a question about photographers "losing faith" in Instagram as a platform for showcasing their work. "We definitely have a number of photographers who have been upset. I want to be clear: though we are leaning into video, we still value photos. Photos will always be a part of Instagram. I think we were overfocused on video in 2022 and pushed ranking too far and basically showed too many videos and not enough photos. We’ve since balanced, so things like how often someone likes photos versus videos and how often someone comments on photos versus videos are roughly equal, which is a good sign that things are balanced." [Insert shrug emoji!] You know Meta is on a mission to get all of us used to seeing the avatar version of ourselves. Instagram recently debuted "dynamic profile photos" where visitors to your account can tap your profile pic and it switches between your regular choice of static image and an animated version of your avatar waving at the crowd. ;) More info on [TechCrunch]() and see Instagram's demo of the new feature in [this video]( tweet by IG. [See Mari Smith at SMMW23]( Will I see you at Social Media Marketing World? If you're able to attend this year's [SMMW23 conference](=) right here in sunny San Diego, I do hope to see you there!!! I've been blessed and honored to speak at every single SMMW conference since 2013 and before that, every SME online summit way back in the day, ha! I'm an old timer. Also, for my tribe members coming, I'm toying with hosting an extra-curricular VIP event for you as I've done in previous years. Most likely it'll be held on the morning of Thursday, March 16th and include brunch. Would this be of interest to you? Please reply to this email with your thoughts/questions. [12 steps secure Facebook](=) [12 Steps To Secure Your Facebook Account](=) Sadly, my team and I hear on a regular basis about so many people getting their Facebook or Instagram accounts hacked. Ugh. Not good. Often, that's even with 2-factor authentication set up, which blows my mind. And, invariably, the hackers manage to rack up your credit card bill with ad spend. Unreal. I pray this never happens to you! Prevention is better than cure as the saying goes. PLEASE do yourself a favor and follow every one of these [12 steps](=) to ensure your Facebook and Instagram accounts are super SECURE! (This is a blog post I wrote last year and I just fully updated and re-published it again as it's so pertinent and critical right now!) Okay, at minimum, follow at least steps #1 and #2!! Creator Studio is going away soon and will be replaced by Meta Business Suite Meta/Facebook is getting rid of Creator Studio 'soon.' (I'm not seeing a specific date yet, are you?) Instead, we're all forced to use Meta Business Suite. This change has been a long time coming. So, MBS will be the only native tool for fully managing your Facebook & Instagram accounts. Or you can use any third party social media tool that you prefer. (It should have no bearing on reach, performance etc.) Do you use and like Meta Business Suite already? What do you like about it? What would you love to see improved in MBS? [Join the discussion here](). That's all for this issue!
