Details inside... Hello! And a very Happy New Year to you, dear {NAME}! I sure hope you had plenty of time to enjoy celebrating with your loved ones over the Holidays. I certainly did. I was able to visit my dear mama and stepfather in BC, Canada for the first time since 2019, and it was such a good trip. Wow, so much snow for this acclimated Southern California gal, though. Lol. [image] [image] My mum lives in Nelson, BC very close to where I spent ten years of my childhood before moving to Scotland with my dad and sisters. There is a small airport fairly close to Nelson (Castlegar), but it can be unpredictable in the winter as to whether flights will be able to land or not. So, for this trip, I chose to fly San Diego, CA to Spokane, WA direct via Alaska Airlines, stay one night in Spokane, then rent a car (a fab Subaru Outback!) and drive the ~4 hours north. It had been a long time since I made that trip in the winter. TBH, I got incredibly lucky with all travel logistics and the weather for my drive up and back! But there were some days over Christmas where the snow was relentless. It was tricky just driving the 0.8 miles from my Airbnb to my mum's every day. Phew. [Btw, the road pic above is somewhere in northern Washington State close to the BC border. That was the only day I saw blue sky for a week!] Are you a snow lover? You're welcome to reply and let me know. (I certainly was as a kid but am not so sure now, ha!) Are You A Course Creator? Or an aspiring one? Many of the articles are worth a good skim to help inform your digital marketing strategy this year. Here are three of my picks for you: [SME Trends 2023](=) 1. [Social Media Marketing Trends for 2023: Predictions From the Pros]( - this is a pretty decent round up from our good friends at Social Media Examiner. There are 28 trends total, all from different industry experts, including yours truly. The article is separated out into different categories including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn, Twitter, and content marketing. There are some great mentions of AI, too. My contribution is Trend #9: Facebook Marketing Returns to Community Development Roots. (Btw, I love that the SME team put a Telegram screenshot into my Facebook trend... lol! I would've put a Mighty Networks screenshot in... check it out and you'll see why!) 2. [Top Video Marketing Trends to Jump On in 2023 [from 37 Industry Experts]]() -here's another great roundup post that I also contributed to. There are just nine trends but lots of variations with so many experts' input. The article is put together by the good folks at Wave.video. "No Internet user can deny anymore — video has officially conquered the web. And it looks like this is not going to change in any foreseeable future. We asked 37 industry experts to share their predictions on what will be trending in the world of video next year. Read on to find out what they said!" 3. [Expert Social Media Marketing Predictions For 2023]( - and one more for the road! This roundup is set out slightly differently and contains just seven trends from a variety of experts, including myself. This one is compiled by Search Engine Journal. Experts share their predictions for social media and what trends marketers should watch out for in 2023. Instagram's 3 areas of focus this year Head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, [revealed](=) the company's top three priorities for 2023 in a video last week: - Inspire people to be creative - Help people discover things they love - Spark connections between people Okay, so that's really clear, eh?! Lol. Also, 2022 saw a major milestone for Instagram when the company crossed the 2 billion monthly active users mark! That's all for today! You're welcome to come meet us in my lively and supportive [Social Scoop Facebook Community]( - celebrating 21.8k+ amazing members. Cheers 'til the next time, Best, Mari Smith CEO, Mari Smith International, Inc. Premier Facebook Marketing Expert Top Social Media Thought Leader Author, The New Relationship Marketing Coauthor, Facebook Marketing: An Hour A Day [image] One more pic - this is Kootenay Street in Nelson, BC, Canada real close to my mum and stepdad's place. This is one of the lighter snowy days! The car on the right in the foreground is my Subaru Outback rental... so funny that it has Florida plates, rented in Spokane, WA. What a great car to drive!! Omgosh, all those smart car features we have in today's vehicles! (I drive an older VW Passat and don't really do a whole lot of driving except around San Diego county. But I'm inspired to get a newer car now. Hmm!)
