Legit question - would you abandon Facebook in favor of TikTok for marketing your business? (Or, perhaps you'd leave Facebook in the dust for YouTube?) Whilst it's certainly true that Meta's algorithms are constantly changing and what worked last year (heck, sometimes last month!) doesn't work today, that doesn't mean we should jump ship, IMHO. Case in point: you may have noticed that both your Facebook and Instagram feeds have an unusually high volume of content from people/accounts you do not follow, right? These are people/businesses that you've never heard of. BUT, what's happening is Meta's AI-powered discovery engine is surfacing content based on what *it* thinks you'll find interesting. And these suggested posts are not random. There are hundreds of data points gathered on your behavior that inform the algos what you just might want to see in your feed. At first, it was about 20% suggested content. ('Unconnected,' as Meta calls it, vs. content from your friends/people you follow is Connected). Today, the volume of suggested content is AT LEAST 50%, maybe even 60%! What in the actual heck?!?!? Right? I mean, seriously, it can feel SO challenging to get your content seen by people who have proactively chosen to follow you. (And to see content you genuinely want to see, right?) However, there is one upside to the discovery engine. And that is your content could be suggested to people who might be a good fit for your product/service. 🤔 And, big important point: the two primary reasons Meta keeps pushing the discovery engine approach is i) it's what's made TikTok so successful and ii) studies have shown the element of surprise keeps people on the platforms LONGER. (Could be just a 6-8% increase, but it's still going up!) In any case, giving up Facebook in favor of TikTok was a recent [topic](=) of discussion in my Social Scoop group. (And in favor of YouTube in another [post]()). There are differing viewpoints. For me, TikTok has never been my jam. I deleted my account years ago. Also, I wrote up this post a few months back that you might find helpful: [8 Steps To Train Your Facebook Feed](). Btw, I do think that EVERY business/professional/creator should be actively working on building their YouTube channel. 📺 In addition to other social platforms. AND, please do not give up on Facebook! It's still the behemoth and has tons of benefits, despite its issues! (On that note, I'm excited to unveil my next course very shortly: 🤩 SOCIAL SAVVY SUPERSTARS - stay tuned!)
