Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez flipped WA-03 blue in 2022 against a far-right MAGA extremist. Now, she’s a top target for right-wing attacks. We don’t need angry politicians spouting extremist rhetoric and making dangerous threats. We need representatives like Marie who genuinely understand and know the communities they serve. [Please take a moment and sign Marie’s petition calling on our elected officials and political candidates to remain focused on bringing communities together to tackle problems, not sowing political division.]( --------------------------------------------------------------- When I launched my campaign for Congress two years ago, I promised two things: To always put the interests of the hardworking people of WA-03 first and to work across the aisle on common sense solutions. As a Member of Congress, I've worked hard every day to follow those guiding principles. I refuse to spend my time sowing division or trying to score partisan political points. Let me give you one example of what I mean — [and then I hope you'll sign my petition calling for more of the same approach in Congress.]( You may have read or seen television coverage about the massive fire on January 22 that destroyed an Ilwaco seafood landing facility and thousands of commercial crab pots. The blaze happened days before the most crucial season opener for coastal fishers. The hardworking families of this small fishing town, who depend on Dungeness crab harvests for their living, watched their livelihoods go up in smoke. As soon as my office and I heard the news, we acted quickly to ensure the Ilwaco community — dependent on our state's most lucrative commercial harvest, Dungeness crab — had access to federal and state resources to ensure a swift recovery. When I visited Ilwaco days after the fire, I was deeply impressed by the community's resilience. New gear with lines, buoys, and tags were already being prepped. Forklifts and trucks were everywhere, carrying equipment and materials for repairs and loading boats. Other residents prepared hot dogs and mashed potatoes to feed workers as they put in 12- and 15-hour days. A GoFundMe appeal has raised more than $115,000 to help fishers recoup new gear costs. The focused response is putting this small fishing community back on track for their crucial crabbing season. This is what being a Member of Congress is really about. It's serving all the residents and all the communities – large and small, urban and rural – within our district. I was proud and humbled to help in the Ilwaco response. Being a Member of Congress is not about sowing division, but bringing communities together to tackle problems. [If you agree, please sign my petition calling on Members of Congress and Congressional candidates to work together to problem solve without angry partisan political point scoring.]( [TAKE THE SURVEY]( The families of Ilwaco are survivors, and their community spirit is a competitive advantage that money cannot buy. I am incredibly grateful to come from a community that supports each other in the wake of such a tragedy. Thank you, Marie --------------------------------------------------------------- [DONATE]( Marie Gluesenkamp Perez is a fifth-generation Washingtonian, a small business owner and a pro-choice mother.
