# {NAME}, I ran for Congress to fight for working Washingtonians and bring the voice of the working people back to D.C. – and that’s exactly what I’m doing. Consumer protection is a huge part of that fight, {NAME}. And when federal regulators restrict consumer choices and raise costs, changes must be made. A newly proposed rule from the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) would require all home and industrial table saws to use safety technology — a technology that is controlled by just one company. This rule would eliminate competition and leave consumers to either foot the bill or risk using an unsafe workaround. Last week, I introduced bipartisan legislation to prevent this dangerous monopoly. When you work in the trades, you know when rules are made by people who wear suits to work. When “consumer safety” rules actually make us less safe, raise costs, and result in a huge payday for one company—that’s a bridge too far. [{NAME}, I want to know where you stand: Do you agree that stopping monopolies is good for our communities and workers?]( [YES]( [NO]( Thanks for weighing in. – Marie --------------------------------------------------------------- [DONATE]( Marie Gluesenkamp Perez is a fifth-generation Washingtonian, a small business owner and a pro-choice mother.
