{NAME} – My campaign is about bringing communities together so that everyone is respected and has a fair chance to succeed in our country. And when I see a community being attacked by opportunistic politicians, I am more determined than ever to fight for equality. For the last few years, the far right has done everything it can to demonize the LGBTQ+ community and restrict the rights of LGBTQ+ people – both here in Virginia and across the country. Virginia Republicans have attacked our state's non-discrimination provisions. They joined a wave of other states in introducing multiple anti-LGBTQ+ bills (much of them targeting trans youth). It was only by the skin of our teeth last November that we denied them a majority that would have made their agenda a reality. In Congress, Republicans continue to block votes on federal legislation that would ensure equal access to healthcare, education, employment, and housing – regardless of one's sexual orientation or gender identity. They introduced dozens of discriminatory policy riders into spending bills last year, shamelessly playing to the most extreme elements of their base. It's alarming that we've seen such a sharp rise in homophobic and transphobic rhetoric among legislators and the media in recent years. It's a sad commentary on our politics when representatives think the easiest way to score points is by supporting blatantly discriminatory laws. I unequivocally stand with Virginia's LGTBQ+ community, and I'm running for Congress because Virginians deserve a leader in D.C. who will stand up to hate and uplift all marginalized communities. You can count on me to support legislation like the Equality Act, which would ensure that sexual orientation and gender identity are covered under federal civil rights laws. You can count on me to bring the same inclusive approach I've followed in Prince William County to help everyone get better access to healthcare, education, employment, and housing. The stakes are high, and our district needs someone ready to fight for equality on Day One. By coming together in solidarity and taking meaningful action, we can create a world where every individual – regardless of who they love or how they identify – can live authentically and thrive. [So please, join me in fighting discrimination and inequality in every form by protecting our fundamental values.]( Onward, Margaret Express Donate: If you've stored your info with ActBlue Express, we'll process your contribution instantly: [$5]( [$15]( [$25]( [$50]( [Facebook]( [Twitter]( [Instagram]( Paid for by Margaret for Congress This email was sent by [Margaret Angela Franklin]( Margaret for Congress PO Box 4084 Woodbridge, VA 22194 United States Email is an important way for Margaret Angela Franklin to keep supporters like you informed about critical issues and to build a winning grassroots campaign.
