{NAME} – Earlier this week, Arizona's Supreme Court upheld a near-total ban on abortion. This law carries no exceptions for victims of rape and could throw doctors who provide abortion care in jail for up to five years. If that sounds like a law horribly out of step with the times, it's because it is. Arizona's abortion ban was written in 1864. In the wake of Roe v. Wade being overturned, the stark reality is that in any state, any type of abortion ban (no matter how harsh or outdated) is now possible. To put it another way: if Virginia Republicans had won just one more seat in each of the State Senate and House of Delegates in November, they would have free rein to pass any restrictions on reproductive freedom – no matter how draconian or dangerous – that they so desired. It is unsustainable to have abortion rights continually hanging by a thread in Virginia, or in any state. That's why I'm running for Congress – to help Democrats take back the House and restore the protections all Americans had under Roe. I worked on reproductive healthcare issues when I was a Hill staffer, and I understand how access to abortion care impacts folks across zip codes, across income levels, and across racial lines. I'll bring an empathetic and much-needed perspective to Congress, and I'll never forget that this is about upholding personal freedom and the dignity to make informed medical choices. I'm sick and tired of seeing headlines like those out of Arizona this week. But I know they will continue in other states across the country as well until Congress acts. I will never back away from passing a guaranteed national right to choose. [If you can, please chip in to help send me to Congress to fight for our fights. The future of reproductive care for Virginians – and all Americans – could come down to our district, and we're hoping to raise $1,500 by the end of the week so we can keep expanding our campaign's outreach.]( Thank you, Margaret Express Donate: If you've stored your info with ActBlue Express, we'll process your contribution instantly: [$5]( [$15]( [$25]( [$50]( [Facebook]( [Twitter]( [Instagram]( Paid for by Margaret for Congress This email was sent by [Margaret Angela Franklin]( Margaret for Congress PO Box 4084 Woodbridge, VA 22194 United States Email is an important way for Margaret Angela Franklin to keep supporters like you informed about critical issues and to build a winning grassroots campaign.
