[The Long Run PAC] Three years ago today, far-right extremists fueled by Trump attacked our nation's capitol and our democracy. On the third anniversary of that horrendous attack that left three dead and hundreds injured, I wanted to share a few thoughts on the importance of protecting our democracy. Let me be very clear: The question of protecting our democracy is not exclusively a Republican or Democratic issue. It is a question of respecting the fundamental values that our country was founded on — values that make our country great. What the insurrectionists did three years ago was fueled by Trump's lies, conspiracies, and inability to accept defeat. As we enter the presidential election year — the first presidential election since the insurrection — it’s clear that Trump continues to pose a danger to our democracy as the front-runner for the Republican nomination. Three years after the insurrection, loyalty to Trump is climbing. Fewer Republicans say Trump bears responsibility for the attack than ever before, and over a third of Americans have bought into his stolen election conspiracy theory. Now, the Trump campaign has overtly embraced insurrectionists, praising their actions and promising them pardons. This is dangerous, {NAME}. Trump’s threat to our democracy is rampant and apparent. Democracy will once again be on the ballot in 2024. But we have the power to ensure Trump never sits in the Oval Office again and his puppets leave Congress — that power comes from electing pro-democracy candidates across the country who will respect our democratic process. But to do that, it is critical that our movement has your unwavering support. [If you are with us, please contribute $3 to our movement so we can continue supporting pro-democracy candidates nationwide.]( Today is an important day to show you are committed to protecting the future of our democracy.
