[The Long Run PAC] {NAME}, democracy in Tennessee is under attack. Yesterday, two young Black lawmakers from the Tennessee House of Representatives, Justin Pearson and Justin Jones, were expelled from the state legislature in retaliation for attending a protest against gun violence. Rep. Gloria Johnson who also attended the protests was spared from being ousted. Why? She said that it "might have to do with the color of my skin." Instead of focusing on the real issue of banning assault weapons in the wake of a horrific Nashville school shooting, Tennessee is focused on dismantling the right to assemble under the first amendment, disenfranchising marginalized voters across the state, and keeping white supremacy alive and well. This is unprecedented. Tennessee Republicans have just proved that they are not afraid to abuse their power for political retribution.
