We have the ability to stop these tragedies from happening in the first place. Paid for by Mandela B

We have the ability to stop these tragedies from happening in the first place. [Mandela Barnes for Wisconsin] {NAME} - Today parents woke up across the country, paralyzed with fear about sending their kids to school. My heart is breaking for Uvalde and for every person around the country that knows this pain all too well. No one should be afraid to send their kids to school. No one should be afraid to go to work. Let me be clear: Gun violence is a public health crisis and we should be addressing it as such. It shouldn't take the deaths of nineteen kids and two teachers to pass common sense gun laws. This is an issue that is personal for me. I've had multiple friends die as a result of gun violence. A friend of mine was shot and killed in Milwaukee, robbed for a pair of shoes. It doesn’t have to be like this. We have the ability to stop these tragedies from happening in the first place, and it starts with having the courage to pass legislation that will save lives. After a tragedy like yesterday's, we’re going to undoubtedly hear elected officials offer their routine thoughts and prayers for the victims. But thoughts and prayers are not enough. We need action. We have to stand up to the NRA and the gun lobby. We have to pass meaningful reform by closing loopholes, requiring background checks, passing extreme risk laws, and banning bump stocks. We cannot continue to tolerate mass shooting after mass shooting. The time to act and save lives is long overdue. And it will require abolishing the Senate filibuster in order to make it happen. Democrats control the House, the Senate, and the White House. There is no reason we can't get this done. All my best, Mandela [CONTRIBUTE]( Paid for by Mandela Barnes for Wisconsin P.O.
