{NAME}, The coronavirus pandemic isnât waiting for the new president to be sworn in. Itâs raging through our communities with an intensity that is far greater than it ever was in the spring or summer. If weâre going to beat this pandemic and reverse disturbing trends here in Wisconsin, we need action now. Not a week from now, not next January â right now. Itâs frustrating to know the seriousness of the problem and see the lack of political will and courage from Republicans to do the right thing. Wisconsinites are dying. Businesses are closing, people are losing their jobs, and our communities are suffering. We're in crisis, {NAME}. But you wouldnât know that judging by the action â or inaction â of Republican lawmakers across our state. Despite the rise in cases and the burdens on our healthcare workers, theyâve yet to act in their capacity as public servants to support our communities. Our administration has invested over $220 million to support Wisconsin business during this crisis. Weâve also acted to protect our communities, while encouraging social distancing and good hygiene. Thatâs leadership. But we canât effectively deal with this public health crisis when one of the major parties is pretending it doesnât exist. We have to get this virus under control. Republicans didnât create this crisis, but itâs without question that their recklessness has worsened it. I remain hopeful that they will do the right thing, put politics aside, and join us in keeping Wisconsinites safe. And I wonât stop fighting until they do.
