[Malwarebytes Newsletter January 2021 | Issue 2]( [Malwarebytes Newsletter January 2021 | Issue 2]( Welcome to another issue of the Malwarebytes newsletter. You’d be forgiven for not knowing it, but next week is Data Privacy Day. So, what does this mean for you? Celebrated every year on the 28th of January, Data Privacy Day is an international event created to raise awareness around data privacy and protection. The fact of the matter is that the average person has little knowledge about how their personal data is used, collected, and shared across the Internet. Everyone from criminal hackers to your Internet service provider has an interest in where you go and what you’re up to. The reasonable expectation of safety and privacy on the Internet disappeared a long time ago (if it ever existed). It’s up to each individual to do what they can to stay safe and stay private. With that in mind, this month’s featured story is all about VPNs and how they can help get us out of this privacy predicament. You’ve probably heard the term “VPN” before and you know you might need one—but why? We give you the most straightforward, no nonsense explanation of what a VPN is, the pros and cons, and some advice for choosing a VPN. So, read up, stay safe, and keep an eye out for how Malwarebytes will be celebrating Data Privacy Day next week.
