There’s one very specific reason why she loves you shooting out ribbon after ribbon… [Can't see this image? And it’s not for the reason you may be thinking… [This is why…]( ---------- This sweet treat gives men perfect blood sugar There has been a lot of unfair demonisation of sugar in the last couple of decades. I have written at length about how certain types of fats (not sugar) are responsible for the increase in chronic diseases in recent years. Yet many people still believe that high-sugar medicinal foods like honey are nothing but empty calories. But there is a lot of research showing remarkable health benefits to consuming honey. Honey decreases chronic inflammation – something many people are suffering with these days. It decreases inflammation most in people who need it most too. [Can't see this image? The paper was published in The Journal of Medicinal Food. The project involved a total of seven different human experiments. The researchers gave people drinks of water + honey, or water + fake honey, or water + dextrose. Dextrose is another name for glucose – it is pure, simple sugar. These drinks were given to healthy people, people with high cholesterol, high triglycerides, and type II diabetes. The researchers then carried out blood tests looking at metabolic factors and inflammatory markers over the next few hours. Honey causes significantly less variations in blood sugar levels compared to glucose. “Dextrose elevated blood level at 1 (53%) and 2 (3%) hours, and decreased plasma glucose level after 3 hours (20%).” Things were much more stable in people who consumed the same amount of honey in a drink… “Honey elevated plasma glucose level after 1 hour (14%) and decreased it after 3 hours (10%).”  The researchers also found that increases in insulin were significantly less after consuming honey. Honey is a mixture of different sugars, some of which do not require insulin. “Elevation of insulin was significantly higher after dextrose than after honey.” In people with high triglycerides, consuming honey for a couple of weeks led to decreases in total cholesterol. There were insignificant changes in HDL and LDL. “Honey consumed for 15 days decreased cholesterol (7%)in people with hypertriglyceridemia.” One of the reasons for elevated cholesterol is a bacterial inflammation in the body. Honey is remarkably good at balancing bacteria and other gut critters. This explains why markers of systemic inflammation decreased alongside total cholesterol in people with high triglycerides. “15 days of honey consumption decreased CRP (7%) and homocysteine (6%).” C-reactive protein (CRP) is a great test for systemic inflammation. Homocysteine is a marker for inflammation which can lead to cardiovascular disease. Decreasing both of these markers is a great sign for people who consume honey. The effects were even better in people with high cholesterol. Two weeks of honey consumption decreased total cholesterol by 8% and LDL by 11%. More importantly, honey decreased the inflammatory protein CRP by 75% in people with high cholesterol! “Honey decreased cholesterol (8%), LDL-C (11%), and CRP (75%) in people with hyperlipidemia after 15 days.” There are also benefits to diabetic patients. These people saw a significantly lower rise in blood sugar after consuming honey compared with glucose. “In diabetic patients, honey compared with dextrose caused a significantly lower rise of plasma glucose level.” Honey also decreased homocysteine ( a marker for cardiovascular disease) in people with high cholesterol. “Honey reduces blood lipids, homocysteine, and CRP in normal and hyperlipidemic subjects.” I think the results of this study are pretty clear. Honey is superior to sugar in terms of cardio metabolic health. Honey is a pretty potent anti-inflammatory, more so for those who need it most. Honey has particularly potent effects on inflammation in people with high cholesterol. Inflammation and elevated cholesterol often sourced from the same place – the gut. There are numerous studies showing the benefits of honey in people and animals with gut problems… Even severe gut problems like inflammatory bowel disease. ----Important Message for Men---- 5 foods giving men prediabetes and diabetes -- and these are so-called “healthy” foods! Flesch reading score measures how complex a text is. The lower the score, the more difficult the text is to read. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
