Over one-quarter of your protein is collagen. Collagen is the major player in structural proteins -- bones and connective tissue. Itâs also the major protein in human skin. You can consume collagen from animal foods -- we used to get a lot of this important protein that way. But over the last few decades, foods which are high in college and have become less trendy. And so people are consuming less collagen. This is a problem -- because collagen is critical for repair of skin and other organs. A review of the scientific literature on skin problems and collagen supplementation found that just a little collagen can slow aging, prevent cellulite, and treat pressure ulcers. [Can't see this image? Click on 'load images' or 'always allow images for this sender'] The research was carried out at the University of California Irvine. There are many supplements and other solutions marketed to treat aging and skin problems. Collagen should be the most obvious -- but is often overlooked. âThe use of nutraceuticals or âfunctional foodsâ in skincare along with technological innovations within the food industry has been rising.â The authors of this study were curious as to why collagen supplementation for skin problems was not more widespread. âCollagen supplementation in dermatology remains controversial due to the lack of regulation on quality and quantity of ingredients in over-the-counter collagen supplements, as well as minimal peer-reviewed literature on the subject.â They decided to conduct a systematic analysis of the existing research into the topic. âWe set out to review the literature and assess available randomized-controlled trials using collagen supplementation for treatment efficacy regarding skin quality, anti-aging benefits, and potential application in medical dermatology.â The researchers combed through online medical databases looking for high-quality studies using collagen to treat skin conditions. âInclusion criteria were: randomized, placebo-controlled trials using collagen supplementation in human subjects related to dermatology.â 11 studies met the high standards for this review. In total, there were over 800 participants across all the studies. The research showed that collagen has profound benefits for skin health -- slowing aging and increasing youthful properties. The amount of collagen in the skin decreases with age -- this plays a role in the thin and wrinkled appearance of older skin. But simply eating more collagen can boost collagen levels in the skin in a matter of weeks. âOral collagen supplements increase skin elasticity, hydration, and dermal collagen density.â Collagen slows skin aging and has profound effects on the rejuvenate capacity of our largest organ. The protein accelerates skin healing from a wide variety of problems. âPreliminary results are promising for the short and long-term use of oral collagen supplements for wound healing and skin aging.â Most of the studies used a supplement called collagen hydrolysate -- this is simply collagen which has been broken down for easier digestion. Collagen hydrolysate is soluble in warm or cold drinks. The studies used relatively small amounts of collagen hydrolysate. âEight studies used collagen hydrolysate, 2.5g/d to 10g/d, for 8 to 24 weeks, for the treatment of pressure ulcers, xerosis, skin aging, and cellulite.â I think everyone should be getting a minimum 10g of this protein per day -- more is better -- and collagen has benefits for every tissue in the body, not just the skin. Collagen has been a major component of the human diet for tens of thousands of years -- as such, supplementation has no side effects. âCollagen supplementation is generally safe with no reported adverse events.â This is definitely a supplement that I recommend to everyone for improving skin and overall health. Careful you donât pay exorbitant amounts for low-dose collagen capsules -- loose powder is usually much more economical and it can be easily added to coffee or any other beverage. ----Important Message for Boosting Collagen Levels---- Super C helps boost collagen levels -- prevents wrinkles and keeps you looking young [Can't see this image? Click on 'load images' or 'always allow images for this sender'] Did you know we need vitamin C to create collagen? Collagen is crucial for skin health. It keeps the skin plump and young-looking. It prevents wrinkles and fine lines, and we need collagen to form new skin when we get cuts and scrapes. So more vitamin C is great for boosting collagen production -- but hereâs the problem⦠The body doesnât hold onto vitamin C long enough to get full benefit from it. We just pee it out because itâs water-soluble. So I created a super form of vitamin C that is fat-soluble instead -- and this keeps it in the body longer for maximum benefit. [I call it Super C and it can help you boost collagen production for youthful skin along with a ton of other benefits (like better penile blood flow for instanceâ¦)]( ---------- Daily Medical Discoveries is dedicated to uncovering secret, buried or censored studies that can help men live great lives to 120 and beyond.
