Product recall update   [View this email in your browser]( [Food]( [Women]( [Men]( [Kids]( [Baby]( [Homeware]( [Beauty]( [Financial Services]( [WRewards]( [Explore your Wrewards - Banner]( Dear {NAME}, Following the announcement around the source of the Listeria outbreak by the Department of Health, we wanted to share with you the context around our Woolworths product recall. We would firstly like to thank those who have already returned the specific products listed in our initial communication. Having engaged with some of you directly and through social media, we would like to address your concerns and clarify any misconceptions around this recall. OUR PRODUCTS ARE MADE SPECIFICALLY FOR WOOLIES Woolworths does not stock Enterprise products and do not use Enterprise raw materials in any of our other meals. Our sliced and processed meats are made strictly to our own unique formulations and recipes and adhere to the highest standards of quality and safety. We specify what goes into them as well as the recipes and processes used in how they are made. For example, Woolies products do not contain MSG or any other glutamates, we do not allow the use of mechanically deboned meat, and we insist that meat comes only from approved suppliers who uphold the strictest animal welfare standards. WE TAKE FOOD SAFETY EXTREMELY SERIOUSLY Our Foods business has been built on quality and safety over many decades. Food safety is of paramount importance to us and we take all issues regarding the production of our food seriously. We have a dedicated team of qualified food scientists and technologists who proactively manage food safety, in addition to our independent food safety testing and auditing. Microbiological testing is done daily according to strict Woolworths protocol and includes testing for Listeria Monocytogenes. In addition, independent routine product testing is done in our stores and goes to an external lab for analysis. As well as the regular visits by our food technologists, independent audits validate all processes. These stringent product controls have long been standard practice for Woolies and ensure we always deliver the outstanding quality you expect from us. WHY ARE WE RECALLING SOME PRODUCTS? The Department of Health announced on Sunday, 4 March, that the source of the current Listeriosis outbreak in South Africa has been traced to Enterprise Polokwane and Germiston. A limited number of our Woolworths branded ready-to-eat products are sliced and packed in dedicated facilities at these factories. While we are confident in our product, we are complying with the directive from the Department of Health that all products produced at the implicated sites should be recalled. We have therefore recalled 33 vienna and cold meat products. [Click here to see the list.]( Customers who have any of the listed products should return them to your local store for a full refund. This includes opened or empty packaging. Proof of payment (like a till slip) is not required. If a product does NOT appear on the list, it is not being recalled and is unaffected. If you require more information, please contact Customer Care on 0860 022 002, or continue to engage with us through social media. Yours sincerely, Spencer Sonn Woolworths Managing Director: Foods [packedlunches_banner ]( Woolworths Financial Services (Pty) Ltd (Reg.
