[Maganomics Daily]( Top Stories From the Breitbart News Desk Black Friday shaped up to be just as bleak for brick-and-mortar retailers as we feared. Shopping malls, main streets, and even big-box retailers were expected to see much thinner traffic than any other time in the past decade. Early reports from around the country indicated that’s exactly what happened on Friday. That’s bad news for small and locally owned businesses, which often depend on holiday shopping to carry them through the year. It can also hurt the bigger retailers whose business models rely on big deals to lure shoppers into stores in hopes they can entice customers into also purchasing some of the more profitable full-priced goods, like wrapping paper, Christmas lights, cookie cutters, and even candy canes. If everyone shops just for deals on their tablets and phones, eschewing the impulse to load up the shopping cart while passing other stuff in the aisles, it becomes very difficult for the big stores to make money. With the pandemic raging across the land and new lockdowns looming, there was a serious danger that consumers would pull back from spending and start saving up for the tough times ahead, contributing to an economic downturn by attempting to prepare for it. Who could blame Americans if fear did dominate the holiday season? All they hear in the media and from many public officials is news of infections, death counts, and hospitalizations. It’s all pandemic, all the time. It will take some time before we have a full view of Black Friday and 2020 holiday sales, but based on Friday’s anecdotal evidence, the public has so far resisted the temptation to surrender to fear. â Alex Marlow, Breitbart News Network --------------------------------------------------------------- TOP STORY [image]( [Robert Reich Says It’s ‘Trump’s Fault You Can’t See Your Family’]( Former Labor Secretary Robert Reich said that it is the fault of Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell that many Americans have to spend Thanksgiving alone this year. “If you are spending Thanksgiving alone, it’s Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump’s fault you can’t see your family,” Reich said on Twitter Thursday afternoon. “This could have been under control.” [[Click here for more]( Recommended Link [NOW PLAYING
