Today’s Top Stories From the Breitbart News Desk The past two weeks have seen the early signals

[Maganomics]( Today’s Top Stories From the Breitbart News Desk The past two weeks have seen the early signals of an economic recovery in May. The picture they have painted is of something like a V-shaped recovery, in which the economy rises swiftly after a deep plunge, and nothing like an L-shaped recovery, in which the economy stumbles along near its bottom for a prolonged period. The V shape was implied by the better-than-expected jobs figures and survey data last week, and by the New York Fed’s Empire State Manufacturing Survey today. Experts expected this to show a third month of contraction. The only improvement they anticipated was a slowdown of the decline. Instead, the survey showed the economy likely stabilized. What’s more, the share of businesses that think the economy will be on stronger footing six months from now hit the highest level in over a decade. But coronavirus cases are rising in a few states around the country, and Beijing has seen a new outbreak. These are reminders that we still do not know – and will not know for some time – how big the risk of a second wave of infections we face and what the cost – in terms of the economy and public health – will be if that occurs. – Alex Marlow, Breitbart News Network --------------------------------------------------------------- TOP STORY [image]( [New York Manufacturing Business Optimism Hits Highest Level in a Decade]( Maybe the recovery will be V-shaped. A measure of business activity in New York State released Monday indicated the economy was no longer in sharp contraction, defying economists’ forecasts for a third consecutive month of deterioration. Kudlow acknowledged on Fox News Channel’s America’s Newsroom the “growing concerns” and the increased cases but said more testing is available now than ever. According to Kudlow, officials do not expect to shut down the economy again because the additional cases do not mean “a second wave.” [[Click here for more]( [China: Massive Coronavirus Outbreak in Beijing ‘Not a Second Wuhan’]( Chinese Communist Party media revealed a boom of 79 cases of Chinese coronavirus discovered in Beijing as of Sunday, insisting the situation would not become a “second Wuhan” despite the nation’s capital going into “wartime” mode against the pandemic. Communist Party dictator Xi Jinping declared victory against China’s outbreak during a visit to Wuhan, where the pandemic originated, on March 10. At the moment, Trump faces an uphill battle. The coronavirus pandemic caused major damage to the economy, and the ongoing unrest and rioting, accompanied by “woke mobs” purging dissent, have many Americans scared for the future. None of it is Trump’s doing – and there is an argument to be made that he managed both crises well. Health ministry spokeswoman Sima Sadat Lari said 113 new fatalities took to 8,950 the total number of COVID-19 deaths since the country’s outbreak began in February. She also said another 2,449 people had tested positive for the virus in the past 24 hours, taking the Islamic republic’s overall caseload to 189,876.
