Happy New Year with buchu-kimchi, octopus slices, crunchy balloon cookies & the most popular recipes

Happy New Year with buchu-kimchi, octopus slices, crunchy balloon cookies & the most popular recipes of 2016! [View in browser] [["Maangchi"]] Happy New Year! Happy new year to you and your family! I made [rice cake soup (Tteokguk 떡국)] to celebrate new years' day. I wish I could share some of this with all of you, so I took this photo just before putting the soup into bowls, garnishing and serving. The rice cakes in this soup are white and round, and symbolize money and pureness. So I wish your 2017 is full of financial success and good health and happiness! Of course it includes your Korean cooking. : ) [Beautful rice cakes made by my reader] Many of my readers made [rice cakes at home] to great success! Check [out misomui's rice cakes]! They look beautiful and perfect! You can see how passionate she is about cooking. "I just made these with [homemade rice flour]. I didn't use all the water per the recipe, since it looked too wet after about half a cup of boiling water. It looked dry after 2 mins in the microwave though, so I put in another 2 tbsp of water before putting it back into the microwave for the second round. "Instead of kneading by hand, I rolled it into a ball and put it in my stand mixer for 10 mins on high. I had to hold the mixer down to keep it from flying off but the results were great! Thanks for the recipe!!!" [See how to make rice cakes] Most popular recipes in 2016 When I first created my website years ago I wanted it to be a place for authentic and delicious Korean recipes. It's my home on the internet and I'm always looking after it and adding to it. After all these years of work it's so satisfying to see so many people enjoy it. Every month, millions of people from around the world cook Korean food from the recipes. It's always amazing to me! Here's a list of the most popular recipes on my website in 2016. You can try some of them yourself next year: - [Traditional Napa cabbage kimchi] - [Hot and spicy rice cake (Tteokbokki 떡볶이)] - [Crispy and crunchy Korean fried chicken] - [Potato starch noodles stir fried with vegetables (Japchae 잡채)] - [Bulgogi] - [Kimchi fried rice] - [Easy kimchi] - [Kimchi stew] - [Noodles with blackbean sauce (Jjajangmyeon 짜장면)] - [Gimbap] [New recipe: Buchu-kimchi (plus our Paris potluck party)!] In my last letter I showed you a photo from the potluck meetup we had in Paris. What fun it was! I made [buchu-kimchi (Asian chive kimchi)] for the party, and in the [video] you can see my buchu-kimchi recipe as well as scenes from Paris, who came to the meetup and what they made. [Check out the recipe & party!] [Octopus slices with a sesame oil dipping sauce, filmed in Nice! Nice, nice!] When I went to France I also travelled to Nice. I filmed some videos there, the first one is showing [how to clean and cook and serve octopus slices] with a sesame dipping sauce. It's called [muneo-sukhoe (문어숙회)]. Some of my viewers on YouTube seem to be surprised that travel with my own ingredients and cooking equipment. [mse3700 said]: "You brought your timer with you? I hope it wasn't ticking in your bag when you reached the airport." It's no problem for me! I always bring my timer, my scale, my knife and a little cutting board with me when I travel. With some essential ingredients of course! : ) [Get the recipe!] [The Crunchy balloon bread recipe that took me many years to develop] I've been working on this recipe for a few years, so I was very happy to release this video in December. You won't believe it when you try this crispy, crunchy, cookie-like bread with a sticky sweet coating on the inside. It's called [Gonggal-ppang (공갈빵)] in Korean and is a regular treat in Chinese-Korean bakeries. paroxysms8 wrote on YouTube: "Wow, i've never seen anything like this before. I just made it and it is so tasty! Thank you for making such great videos and sharing your recipes!" [Make Gonggal-ppang!] Gonggal-ppang mania : ) Ever since I posted the recipe for balloon bread, many people made it to great success! Check out [bbnic0le on Twitter], her Gonggal-ppang looks awesome! Make many many mandu for winter It's a good time to make Korean dumplings (aka mandu) like [Anna Chyung on Instagram] because you can make a lot at once and save them in the freezer for later. Then whenever you want [dumpling soup] you can take some out of the freezer and add to your broth! [Make mandu!] Bye for now! Have a strong start in 2017! I hope you are having a happy new year so far! Let's get off to a strong start and have an awesome year! We can do it!
