How to make a kimchi pancake! Plus, cheese buldak in the New York Times!  [View in browser](   [[]   I'm making doenjang!  Since the doenjang I made 2 years ago is almost running out, I decided to make some more. This time I doubled the recipe, so I started with 10 pounds of organic dried soybeans. To ferment the meju blocks nicely, I used the dried rice straw that a Korean farmer gave me when I visited Korea 2 years ago.  The blocks were well fermented! I saw good white, grayish fungi in the cracks of each meju. These meju blocks are my good decoration while they are being hung and dried. The pungent smell always makes me smile every morning. Yes, you guys are alive!  Soon I will soak them in salty water. Ooh whoo, so exciting!    Kim's Convenience mentioned me!  A few months ago the producers from the TV show Kim's Convenience asked me for permission to use my video in one of their episodes about the daughter learning how to make Korean food. I said sure! Then I forgot about it until recently, when it was on Canadian TV and one of my readers [tweeted about it](. I haven't seen it, but the show will be on Netflix soon!    [New recipe: Kimchi pancake](  I revisited my [kimchijeon]( recipe that I posted 10 years ago and updated it in HD! I'm happy to see so many people are interested in the recipe and that they are making it and posting photos on their social media.  A kimchi pancake is one of the easiest and quickest things to make and is one of Koreans’ all time favorite dishes. It’s spicy, crispy, a little sweet, sour, and a little salty. It is not only a great snack but also it goes well with rice as a side dish, or in a lunchbox!   [Make kimchijeon!](   [Doenjangguk with spinach and clams](  This soup is made with lots of green bunch spinach (sigeumchi in Korean) and clams. To make the broth tasty, I used a little bit of beef, so it tastes savory, beefy, and earthy.
