Easy japchae, Korean-style fruit salad, plus photos and stories from my readers and viewers! Â Â ?

Easy japchae, Korean-style fruit salad, plus photos and stories from my readers and viewers!  [View in browser](   [[]   Happy New Year, everybody!     [New recipe: One Pot Japchae](  [Japchae](, sweet potato starch noodles stir fried with vegetables, is a popular and delicious dish that everyone likes, as soon as they try it! This recipe that I developed for my new cookbook is a faster way to make it, all in one pot. Cooking time is only 10 minutes and it tastes just as good as the traditional way!   [Make easy japchae](   One way of becoming a good daughter!  Liv set a Korean table for her parents on Christmas and [posted this photo on Twitter](. She said, "They loved all the homemade side dishes as well. It's great to share good food during the holidays"    [New recipe: Korean-style fruit salad!](  [Korean style fruit salad]( is very simple and easy to make! It's so colorful that it always stands out on the table. This cold, sweet, crispy and nutty salad has a real unique flavor and set of textures, and a good thing about it is that you can make it in advance and refrigerate it up to 24 hours! It will never go soggy.   [Make fruit salad!](   Her guests' favorite was Korean fruit salad!  [Gramma Stitches (on Facebook)]( made and said, "Your fruit salad was a big hit with my holiday guests!" Wonderful!    One of my amazing avid followers made 106 Korean dishes in 2019!  My reader [cabinfever25 (on instagram) made 106 dishes from my first cookbook]( last year. He is a Korean adoptee living in America, trying to learn more about Korean food and his Korean heritage, and also pass it on to his children. He is not only a passionate cook but also a great father! Congratulations on making so many recipes!    Meju blocks are good decoration, aren't they?  Inches, in Chicago, [has been updating his doenjang making project with this photos](. He said: "Today I moved my meju into their new apartment. They are staying in my room ^_^ The whole house has smelled wonderful this week. It’s like fresh baked bread every day! I see white mycelium like when I made tempeh." Yes, your meju blocks are breathing and living with you in the same room! You won't mind their slightly pungent smell. I totally agreen with you. When I make doenjang, I feel the same way. "Uh? what's this smell?" Then I realize that my meju are hanging, and I smile at them. It's strange to say that I feel like they are real cute living things!  My organic soybeans are ready to soak, so I need to [start my own meju-making]( soon!   [Start your doenjang too!](   My 5 year old fan aked her dad to make Korean-style octopus!  [Her father MIchael said](: "How I know my 5 y/o is hooked on Maangchi. We asked her what she wants for dinner, and she says, "Muneo-sukhoe!" (문어숙회) [Note: we've never had octopus in our house before today]" I can picture her dipping a slice of cooked octopus into sesame oil and chewing. Aaa, so cute! By the way, I'd like to applaud to Michael! He is such a good daddy!   [Make octopus slices with dipping sauce!](   PoniesPonies was inspired to make oxtail soup by one of my interviews!  When I was interviewed by Francis Lam on [Splendid Table]( to talk about Korean winter foods, I talked about oxtail soup. I thought: "Who would listen to such a short 3 minute interview!?"  But surprisingly [PoniesPonies in Seattle let me know](: "Maangchi! I loved this video, and your Splendid Table interview, so much so I made this soup using your bone broth recipe. It was incredible. My friend swears it cured her cold." Rice, oxtail soup, [kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi)](, that's all we need on a cold winter day!   [Make oxtail soup!](   Forest of sprouts!  Christina [grew her own mung bean sprouts]( using my method. She said: "It's a forest of sprouts! 😀"  It's such a gorgeous bouquet of sprouts! They were well grown with TLC!   [Get the recipe!](   Oot, 2020!  I had a busy busy end of the year this year. I don't want to brag about it but for those who may be interested in knowing what's going on with my cookbook, some good news. Yay! My [new cookbook]( was chosen by Amazon as [one of the best cookbooks of 2019](, and by Bon Appetit as their [Book of the Month](. [I was on the Splendid Table podcast]( talking about cold weather cooking in Korea, and [on Milk Street radio]( talking about cleaning octopus, playing video games, Korean food, and sea squirts. Funny thing is that Christopher Kimball on Milk Street radio was so interested in my octopus cleaning method! I also made Korean fried chicken with Eric Kim on [Food52]( and had a cameo in this [Bon Appetit video]( with Chris Morocco! I was busy! I'm kind of tired, but I'm looking forward to a fun and bright 2020!   I wish all of you have happy, healthy, prosperous, and successful 2020! Are you ready to go with me?  — Maangchi    This email was sent to {EMAIL} You received this email because you are registered to get Maangchi's letter  [Unsubscribe here](  Sent by[SendinBlue](   © 2018 Maangchi Â
