There’s lots more work to do in the fight for reform Hi {NAME} – The start of the school year should be an exciting time for students and families, as children across our state reunite with their friends and teachers. However, due to the epidemic of gun violence and mass shootings in this country, this new school year includes long security lines, clear backpacks, and an even larger presence of guns and security in our classrooms. {NAME}, this shouldn’t be the environment that we send our kids off to each morning. [We can and must do better, but we’ve got a lot of work to do in pushing my NRA-backed Republican colleagues to stop stalling and do something about the epidemic of shootings in our country. Please sign my petition calling on Congressional Republicans to take action against gun violence →]( [ADD YOUR NAME]( And that’s not all – amidst all the Labor Day celebrations last weekend, there were at least nine mass shootings nationwide, leaving at least 10 people dead. Have you heard about these tragedies? If not, I wouldn’t be surprised. Here in America, we’re so used to people being shot and killed that it barely makes the news sometimes. But let me tell you – I know firsthand what it’s like to have a loved one killed in a senseless act of gun violence, and my heart breaks for every single family member who’s going through the same thing I did when my son Jordan was murdered in 2012. [I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Enough is enough. Please sign my petition demanding that Republicans in Congress stop blocking legislation on gun reform →]( [SIGN HERE]( Parents should not have to live in fear that they will send their children off to school and never see them come home. Let’s ramp up the pressure on Republican elected officials to get guns off the streets, and make these events become a thing of the past.
