As more details emerge about the 4th of July shooting in Highland Park, Illinois – near where I grew up – the story of 2-year-old Aidan McCarthy has hit me particularly hard. I got to have 17 years with my son Jordan before his life was stolen from me by a man with a gun. But 2-year-old Aidan McCarthy will grow up without any tangible memories of his parents – he’ll only have pictures. And when he’s old enough to understand, he’ll struggle to comprehend why his parents were killed in a mass shooting. Enough is enough, {NAME}. We need to put an Aidan McCarthy Assault Weapons Ban or Universal Background Checks bill in front of Republican members of the Senate immediately.
