[Lucas Kunce for U.S. Senate] The last few weeks have been huge for our campaign, {NAME}. Between closing the polling gap with criminal GOP frontrunner Eric Greitens and outraising our entire field of opponents in the first quarter of 2022, weâve put a national spotlight on our race to take back Missouriâs open U.S. Senate seat for the people. [Let's keep it up]( Before I tell you more about all that and explain what got me into this race in the first place, I know this email is a little long. [If youâre already on board with our movement to flip this seat and restore power to everyday people, please add a donation here.]( [Old photo of Lucas as a kid with his family in Jefferson City]( Growing up in Cole County, my family struggled. Paycheck-to-paycheck. Maxed-out credit cards. A story all too familiar. When my sister was born with a heart condition, we went bankrupt and times had never been tougher. But we werenât alone â friends and neighbors came together to support us. People who didnât have much more than we had banding together to support their community â thatâs where I come from. [Lucas in military uniform.]( Their support helped me get to college. Then I joined the Marine Corps to honor the community that took care of me. Got deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. Later the Pentagon. I was on the Joint Staff negotiating arms control agreements with NATO and Russia. Between tours, one of the hardest things was coming back home and seeing what was going on in my old neighborhood. Scenes that are all too familiar to most of us in this country. The corner store boarded up. Our first family home bulldozed down â hereâs all thatâs left of it: [Photo of empty lot in Jefferson City where Lucas' childhood home once stood.]( Overseas, I saw first-hand how corrupt politicians were spending trillions of dollars to send me and my buddies out to fight and die in pointless wars to ânation-buildâ in someone elseâs country. But back at home, I saw how those same politicians were letting massive corporations strip our own communities for parts â and I was ready to fight back. So in my final year of active duty, I worked to upend the corporate defense monopolies that leave our country less safe. I also joined an organization that fights corporate monopolies â we take on defense contractors, Big Pharma, Big Tech, Big Ag, Wall Street. The people buying off our politicians and leaving the rest of us behind. Take both of Missouriâs senators, Roy Blunt and Josh Hawley, for instance. Theyâve made my home-state the frontline of decades-long economic warfare. In exchange for huge sums of corporate campaign cash, theyâve let massive corporations ship our jobs overseas, destroy family farms, and even attack the union way of life. And now, after spending more than $6.4 TRILLION trying to build up other countries in our forever wars, they claim we canât spend even just a fraction of that on infrastructure here at home. Well Iâve had enough. Iâm running for U.S. Senate to fundamentally change who has power in our country â so everyday people call the shots, not corrupt corporations or criminal politicians. I want to abolish corporate PACs, expose lobbyists writing our laws, criminalize war profiteering, ban insider trading among members of Congress, and enact a Marshall Plan for the Midwest â a massive investment and job creation program that will rebuild our forgotten communities and get us off fossil fuels once and for all. Without a single cent from corporate PACs, weâre building a people-powered movement to flip this seat â and I need you on this team. [Give another amount]( Last quarter, we had the highest percentage of grassroots contributions under $200 of ANY major U.S. Senate campaign in the country â and we even outraised the ENTIRE field for this seat. That includes my top opponent: Missouriâs disgraced ex-Gov. Eric Greitens, a literal criminal who was forced to resign in disgrace for assault and for stealing from a charity meant to help veterans like me. Heâs even been supported by corporate mega-donors like the founder of Home Depot. The last time this seat was up in 2016, it was decided by less than 80,000 votes. And this cycle, CNN, NBC, Politico, and more have both reported on our historic momentum to flip this seat. With so much on the line, this isnât just a race we CAN win â this is a race we HAVE to win. I need you on this team, {NAME}. If we work together, we can put working people in charge of our country. [So if youâre ready to join our movement to fundamentally change who has power in this country, please chip in a donation of any amount right now.
