[Lucas Kunce for U.S. Senate] The last few months have been huge for our campaign, {NAME}. From placing our first ad on TV to being featured on the cover of Politico Magazine, we’ve put a national spotlight on our race to take back Missouri’s open U.S. Senate seat for the people. Paycheck-to-paycheck. Maxed-out credit cards. A story all too familiar. When my sister was born with a heart condition, we went bankrupt and times had never been tougher. But we weren’t alone — friends and neighbors came together to support us. Black and white, young and old, we all took care of each other — that’s where I come from. [Lucas in military uniform.]( Their support helped me get to college. Then I joined the Marine Corps to honor the community that took care of me. Got deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. Later the Pentagon. I was on the Joint Staff negotiating arms control agreements with NATO and Russia. Between tours, one of the hardest things was coming back home and seeing what was going on in my old neighborhood. Scenes that are all too familiar to most of us in this country. The corner store boarded up. Our first family home bulldozed down — here’s all that’s left of it: [Photo of empty lot in Jefferson City where Lucas' childhood home once stood.]( Overseas, I saw first-hand how corrupt politicians were spending trillions of dollars to send me and my buddies out to fight and die in pointless wars to “nation-build” in someone else’s country. But back at home, I saw how those same politicians were letting massive corporations strip our own communities for parts — and I was ready to fight back. So in my final year of active duty, I worked to upend the corporate defense monopolies that leave our country less safe. I also joined an organization that fights corporate monopolies — we take on defense contractors, Big Pharma, Big Tech, Big Ag, Wall Street. The people buying off our politicians and leaving the rest of us behind. Take both of Missouri’s senators, Roy Blunt and Josh Hawley, for instance. They’ve made my home-state the frontline of decades-long economic warfare. In exchange for huge sums of corporate campaign cash, they’ve let massive corporations ship our jobs overseas, destroy family farms, and even attack the union way of life. And now, after spending more than $6.4 TRILLION trying to build up other countries in our forever wars, they claim we can’t spend even just a fraction of that on infrastructure here at home. Well I’ve had enough. I’m running for U.S. Senate to fundamentally change who has power in our country — so everyday people call the shots, not corrupt corporations or criminal politicians. I want to abolish corporate PACs, expose lobbyists writing our laws, criminalize war profiteering, ban insider trading among members of Congress, and enact a Marshall Plan for the Midwest — a massive investment and job creation program that will rebuild our forgotten communities and get us off fossil fuels once and for all. Eric Greitens, a literal criminal who was forced to resign in disgrace for assault and for stealing from a charity meant to help veterans like me. He’s even been supported by corporate mega-donors like the founder of Home Depot. The last time this seat was up in 2016, it was decided by less than 80,000 votes. And this year CNN and Politico have both reported on our historic momentum to flip this seat in 2022. With so much on the line, this isn’t just a race we CAN win — this is a race we HAVE to win.
