We couldn’t have done it without your incredible support, and I can’t thank you, our valued customers, enough. It is good to finally feel the country (and hopefully world) is becoming more “normal,” and to see more people can gather and enjoy times with friends and loved ones this holiday season. I hope you and your loved ones have the chance to do this. Our teams at LovelySkin and the dermatology clinic have been extremely busy this year and we always try to connect that feeling or activity with you. Our packages and products go to real people, living busy and complicated lives, who count on us to make their world a little simpler. We always take this into account when we consider you and what you need or want from a website. We never take your loyalty or support for granted, so thank you from the bottom of our hearts! This year, my wife and Vice President of LovelySkin.com Nancy and I were honored to be able to accept the United States Postal Service National Innovation Award in Phoenix on behalf of all our staff who made it possible. Many of you may realize that getting packages to your doorstep quickly is part of our mantra and something we take very seriously. This doesn’t happen easily though. It takes a team that creates and acts on the best strategies for package delivery. The reason we won this award (one of only sixteen in the country and in the company of eBay, Macy’s, UNTUCKit, CVS Health, Poshmark and others) was due to our team’s devotion to making this process better and more efficient. Additionally, Nancy and I were honored to be lead speakers at the first ever Revision Skincare Summit in Dallas. We spoke to 25 of the largest accounts about how we started LovelySkin.com. We also had the opportunity to tour their remarkable manufacturing facility and see how they automate on a large scale. [Photo collage of Dr Schlessinger and Nancy at awards events. One of the photos features a Newsweek award.] Updates to LovelySkin in 2022 Probably the most exciting thing that happened this year was our new app, which is available on the [App Store]( or on [Google Play](. It has been very successful so far! We also added SMS messaging for sales and other promotions. Our rebranding continued in earnest in 2022, and we added many new features to our website, including a [virtual try-on]( with the jane iredale brand, new methods to search for products and videos and a [product finder quiz]( that already seems to be a hit. We also added eleven new brands! New brands we added this year include: - OLAPLEX - ISDIN - CO2LIFT - Ouidad - Dr. Zenovia - Verb We are very thrilled to have added these brands and look forward to several new, exciting brands in the coming year! Despite adding more space last year, we still needed more for the distribution center. We took on an extra facility, growing our square footage to over 65,000 square feet. Thank you for making it necessary for us to grow! We have started work on an even larger facility as well. It should be in operation by 2024 or 2025, depending on the supply chain. We will let you know more as we come closer to an opening. Our customer service team continued to excel, winning the Bizrate Platinum Circle of Excellence award for the 11th year in a row. LovelySkin.com was recognized by Newsweek magazine for a second year as one of the top websites for health and beauty and one of the Fastest Growing websites as well. We are also very proud LovelySkin.com was ranked the number one website in Omaha by Best of Omaha, (one of eight “Best of Omaha” awards we won as an organization.) It is a very welcome distinction voted on by our local community! We never expect it but always appreciate your votes of support. We are humbled by it. [Photo collage of LovelySkin employees and the Schlessingers] Our reach around the world and involvement in the industry continues to grow while we maintain the family orientation that’s so important to us. Our store staff continue to excel at their work, and we have added new team members to our team to help assist and educate customers. We have always resisted becoming a corporate website. Instead, we relish our personal involvement with our users as a family-owned business. While many of our competitors have continued to be purchased by large corporate entities, that is not what we see as our future. The joy we obtain from being a part of our 150+ employees’ lives wouldn't be possible in a corporate environment. Remaining a family-owned company allows us to interact with our employees and you in a special way, and we hope it provides an experience that brings you back whenever it’s time to purchase your favorite skin care and beauty products. We hope having an Omaha-based Customer Care team built on Midwestern values is a distinction that never goes out of style. Nancy and I once again packed orders over Black Friday weekend, as did our entire staff. It was truly special and, as always, allowed us to understand the dedication and excellence of our staff who efficiently send out more than 1.3 million orders yearly. Our team is also committed to helping others. This spring we were happy to donate 10% of one day’s sales to the Ukraine effort via Direct Relief. This winter we put together Christmas gifts for families in need. All departments pitched in, and the effort was very successful. We are so proud of our employees for generously donating their time and money. Nancy and I worked with Habitat for Humanity for the second year in a row to help build housing in Omaha as well. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and were so happy that several staff members were able to join us as well! [Photo collage of new facility location, the Schlessingers and Habitat for Humanity crew] Updates to Schlessinger MD in 2022 At the clinic, we had a busy year seeing well over 20,000 patients. Our research facility continues to do clinical research on new products ranging from solutions for psoriasis to treatments for hair loss and cosmetic concerns, such as wrinkles. Nearly every new treatment in dermatology, ranging from Olumiant, Otezla, DUPIXENT and RINVOQ, to every new BOTOX® competitor, has been researched at our facility. I was fortunate and honored to be voted Best Dermatologist and Best Cosmetic Surgeon in Omaha for the 24th year in a row and a Castle Connolly Top Doctor. I am deeply grateful. Thank you to all who voted! During the past year, I was fortunate to be one of less than 2,000 dermatologists in the world to be board-certified in the practice of Mohs surgery, a highly specialized form of skin cancer removal. This involved a challenging proctored examination, but I am happy to have passed it and continue to appreciate the joy of learning. A drawing of a sun by a patient.] A year to remember for the Schlessinger family Daniel, our dermatology-resident son, was accepted to a combined Mohs surgery and cosmetic surgery fellowship at Northwestern University, where he will study with one of his greatest mentors, Dr. Murad Alam. He and his wife, Steffi, and their mini Aussiedoodle dog, Mischief, will look forward to going back to Steffi’s hometown of Chicago for the year of his fellowship. Our daughter, Claire, has enjoyed working for the New York Times cooking section as a Product Manager. She is active in the union and finds time to experiment on many concoctions in her own kitchen. Her rescue dog, a Pug named Garbanzo, continues to be incredibly loving while enjoying the streets of New York and the various smells they offer. [Watch Video]( Leo, our beautiful Pug dog, is as sassy and delightful as ever. He starred in the Halloween “scary” video this year. I won’t say more but instead will encourage you to watch the two-minute video if you haven’t already. I think you will enjoy it. Nancy continues to amaze me with all she can handle both at LovelySkin and in her philanthropic work. She was named Volunteer of the Year by our local Jewish Federation. It’s an incredible honor, but totally deserved. [Photo collage of Schlessinger family] Lastly, my parents, June and Bernie, continue to be a huge source of strength and a compass for us. They are celebrating their 70th anniversary this week, which is a joyful event for us. We had family over during Thanksgiving and took the chance to celebrate it early. My life this year was devoted to studying for the Mohs exam and planning for the new distribution facility for LovelySkin, among many things. I still enjoy working out on the Peloton and have enjoyed being on the neighborhood homeowner’s association as well. I feel incredibly fortunate to have a full life with friends and family alike, including all of you!
