[Longevity Insider HQ logo] Gods Among Men Series: How to Master Aging (Pt. 1) Alex Reid | August 04, 2020 | Baltimore, MD Dear Reader, It’s safe to say that everyone would like to age gracefully, like a god. So let's cut to the chase... aging isn't always pretty. When your knees pop when you stand, your hair begins to thin, and you find yourself repeating “what?”... "Graceful" probably isn’t the first word that comes to mind. Aging is so multi-fasceted... It includes your mind, your body, and your spirit. And before we jump into the physical aspect of aging... Everything starts with the inside first. What’s most important is that as you get older, you mature with the intention of keeping yourself healthy, happy, motivated, purposeful, and active. Aging gracefully is being serious about living, but not living too seriously. So, today, we dive into what almost every school of thought (and even science) connects to long life. Some would even call it "longevity's little secret"... Advertisement Can you afford not to save your memory in 2020? [nvj puromind memory]( Imagine a world where you never had another embarrassing “senior moment.” In this world, you can do what you love (minus requiring help). You could learn a new hobby… even a foreign language… and begin a new way of life. [Science now says this is all a REAL possibility.]( And that's happiness. The average lifespan continually increases (we’ve gained a decade since the ’60s), yet the same can’t always be said for happy and fulfilling lives.1 In fact, The Washington Post published a survey that shows a steady downward trend in self-assessed happiness.2 Unhappiness is not graceful. So how can we change this? Start by giving these tips a try… Reduce Stress Both the body and mind are affected by stress. When you’re stressed out, your body releases what are called “stress hormones.” This includes cortisol and adrenaline, which wreak havoc on your physical and mental health. Chronic stress contributes to anxiety, depression, high blood pressure, heart disease, a weak immune system, and weight gain. Try these techniques to start living a stress-free (or less stressed) life: - Spend 10–30 minutes a day somewhere you feel connected with nature, a.k.a. a “nature pill” - Practice mindfulness and meditation regularly (apps like Headspace can help) - Use natural herbs and spices as stress reducers (lavender tea is great before bed) Get a Good Night’s Sleep Both quantity and quality of sleep matters. Many people struggle to find the time to sleep in their busy lives, and others are afflicted by sleep disorders, which reduce the quality of their sleep. In fact, studies show that over 50 million Americans have sleep disorders, and 35% of adults don’t get enough sleep.3 Give these tips a try for better sleep: - Create a bedtime ritual/routine that prepares the body and mind for sleep - Talk to your doctor to rule out any sleep disorders such as sleep apnea - Invest in a quality mattress and comfortable bedding Advertisement The Two Vitamins Your Body CRAVES Right Now These [two vitamins]( are all-natural and backed by hundreds of scientific studies. One vitamin releases dopamine and serotonin (the “happy chemicals”). And when paired with the second vitamin, they work together to promote strong immunity support. [Here’s how!]( Cut Out Bad Habits/Addictions Habits play a big role in our health and happiness. Smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, compulsive gambling, and stress eating can wear on your body and mind and even speed up aging. Research shows that smoking regularly takes an average of 10 years off of your life.4 Need to break a habit? Give these a try: - Join a support group with others dealing with the same problems - Reduce your exposure to triggers (boredom, stress, anxiety, bad relationship) - Don’t eliminate your bad habit; replace it (instead of having ice cream when stressed, have fruit) This is just the first part of a three-part series. This Thursday, I'll release part two! To your health, Alex Reid President, Longevity Insider HQ P.S. Dr. Anil Bajnath cracked the code on longevity after studying anti-aging for 10+ years.
