Examining KU's fall enrollment Email not displaying correctly? [View the web version]( [Mount Oread Messenger]( Good morning! On Friday, KU announced that it's cumulative total of COVID-19 cases hit a milestone since testing for the respiratory virus began in August: 1,000 positive cases. In its biweekly data release, KU also released numbers that showed increases in almost every metric the university publicly tracks related to COVID-19 and testing. Here are some notable numbers from the tests conducted between Sept. 24-30: - 29 new cases (since the last update three days prior) - 3.9% positivity rate (37/943 tests — up from 3.2% Tuesday) - Douglas County: 156 cases per 100,000 residents (up from 133/100,000) - Symptomatic positive test numbers at Watkins Health Center: 13 positives out of 99 swab orders (though some may not have results) This equates to 13.1% — up from 7.1% on Tuesday - Students in isolation and quarantine: 97 (21 in isolation, 76 in quarantine) This is an increase of 5 since Tuesday, four of which were from students isolating — meaning they have the virus. Note: It's still mostly unclear how numbers such as these impact KU's operational status, or if they do at all. Beyond weekly short-term forecasts from its Pandemic Medical Advisory Team, the university has not provided the public with any indication of how it views the current status of the pandemic on campus. That's all for today — see you on Wednesday!
