[Pablo Picasso (Spanish, 1881-1973) Two-Handled Pitcher]( Two-Handled Pitcher was made early in Picasso’s ceramics production and is not part of an editioned series, but rather a standalone and unique piece. In the singular shape and style of the body of the jug itself, and the widely grinning and expressively painted face, the piece demonstrates the complexity of Picasso’s forms and the imaginative details he included in his ceramics. Husain (Indian, 1913-2011) Untitled]( One of the founding members of Bombay Progressive Artists' Group, Maqbool Fida Husain painted in an abstract, Modernist style while incorporating subject matter and religious figures from Indian culture. Husain to Freeman's from the personal collection of Ambassador David Morgan Bane (1915-2004), a career diplomat who first served the United States as an Army Lieutenant during World War II before joining the Foreign Service in 1947, where he represented his country during a long and decorated career. It was acquired in 1985 from Jane Haslem Gallery in Washington, D.C. and has been in the present collector’s family for nearly forty years.
