[LiveAuctioneers.com]( [View Auction]( The October sale brings to the market a tightly curated selection of work spanning the benchmark moments of Modern and Contemporary Art. From painting, printmaking, and sculpture to digital art, there is something for all tastes and budgets. Highlights include a colorful drawing by Pablo Picasso, a charming bronze by Matisse, seminal photography by Diane Arbus, and representing the 21st Century, an impressive painting by Davide Balliano. [Pablo Picasso (Spanish, 1881-1973) Tête d'Homme Barbu]( This colorful drawing, imbued with a joie de vivre, was made whilst Picasso convalesced from stomach surgery in the south of France with his wife Jacqueline. This restful period of quiet seclusion in the sun allowed Picasso to work uninterrupted, and indeed the period is one of his most vibrant. The picture is dedicated to Picasso’s cardiologist, who was present at Picasso’s deathbed. [BID ON THIS ITEM]( [Yoshitomo Nara (Japanese, b. 1959) My Little Treasure]( Yoshitomo Nara's kawaii-influenced young children look both sweet and occasionally a bit sinister. His most celebrated figure, a heroine, an aggrieved yet charming young girl, has attracted global audiences. The artist’s work has been heavily influenced by American culture, Punk music, and Walt Disney. The New York Times critic Roberta Smith remarked that Nara is "one of the most egalitarian visual artists since Keith Haring. He seems never to have met a culture or generation gap, a divide between art mediums or modes of consumption that he couldn’t bridge or simply ignore." [BID ON THIS ITEM]( [Lynn Chadwick (British, 1914-2003) Winged Figures II]( Lynn Chadwick was a self-taught English sculptor who produced large-scale, somewhat abstract works in bronze and steel. He was known for his improvisational technique of welding metal without sketches or plans, designing as he manipulated his material. Winning the International Prize for Sculpture at the 1956 Venice Biennale was a remarkable achievement for Chadwick who had a career marked by great success. Chadwick often said that for him making sculpture was a matter of finding a solution to a problem. [BID ON THIS ITEM]( [Diane Arbus
