[Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux, Les Trois Graces (The Three Graces)]( This lot is a prime example of Carpeaux's work drawing heavily from his own, La Danse (The Dance), a complex and large sculpture commissioned for the facade of Paris' Opera Garnier. La Danse sculpture was unveiled in July 1869, with much criticism for the highly realistic and sensual female nudes.
