This exciting event will feature a diverse selection of remarkable pieces. The most noteworthy piece to be auctioned is an exceptional oil on panel painting by renowned, American Impressionist, William Merritt Chase (American, 1849–1916), titled, A Mother’s Joy, created in 1889. This work features Mrs. William Chase with their second daughter, Koto Robertine Chase. It will be offered at $600,000–$900,000. A remarkable ceramic pitcher by Pablo Picasso (Spanish, 1881–1973), titled “Piquet Gothique aux Oiseaux,” will also be on the block. Crafted in 1953, the pitcher showcases Picasso’s distinctive style and will be offered at $8,000 - $12,000. Several print multiples will be offered in the sale as well, including Roy Lichtenstein’s (American, 1923–1997) famous offset lithograph “Crak!”. A striking example of Lichtenstein’s use of primary colors and comic art design, this print is estimated to sell between $10,000 -$15,000. Several works by iconic California artists will be up for auction as well. Most notable is a stunning original gouache work by Sam Francis (American, 1923–1994). This untitled work was created in 1963 and is priced to sell at $8,000 - $12,000.
