Hi {NAME} Google doesn't care about holidays, Chanukka, Christmas, doesn't matter. We know it, like almost every year for the past 20 years. I remember the Rap Genius Penalty hit on December 25 exactly. Google has [has announced]( the December 2022 link spam update as one of the few official link spam updated I recall for years. This quite new, as Google has labelled everything happening in the "Core" as "Core update" for years now. And Penguin based Link Spam updates moved to the Google Core [end of 2016](. Google say, that they are using their [SpamBrain system]( to detect spam directly. Google also say that SpamBrain is used first for Links, and it can now detect both - sites buying links, and - sites used for the purpose of passing outgoing links. Of course, that was the claim of all the prio link-based penalty filters, even before Google Penguin, and I've been around for... *cough* long enough to have heard them all.. :-) It also just shows and confirms once again, how dependant Google is on links. Gary Illyes said it it 2016 already, [Ranking without links is really, really hard. Yes, the external links.]( [Here's a post with a lot more details and feedback updated, as of now.]( Will this be Google Penguin all over again, with the SpamBrain driven update now? Have you been hit? If yes, sorry to hear that. Would you be interested in helping my research, to gain some insights? I would like to include you in my research, of course using our [Link Detox®](, part of [LinkResearchTools](. We are currently just working in fine-tuning and recalibrating again, so that's a great timing for us. If yes, just hit reply and let me know, I'll get back with some questions. All the best and talk soon, Christoph C. Cemper and the team of LinkResearchTools and Link Detox PS: if you would like to learn a bit more about process, our tools, [then this case study could also be interesting for you](.
