We all have something we want to accomplish in life... ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ â?

We all have something we want to accomplish in life... ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌   We all have big goals in life . Maybe it's buying a house. Writing a novel. Or building a successful business. Whatever it might be for you... Big goals are key to finding fulfillment in life. That's why we set challenging goals for ourselves. Even when we know we're not prepared enough. We have big dreams. And won't settle for less than that. The problem comes when we want to achieve our goals within a short amount of time. Because without realizing it... We're killing our chances of success. And putting a HUGE amount of unnecessary pressure on ourselves. What happens next? We get disappointed and quit. We realize how much work it takes to get where we want to be. Take for example... A woman who wants to learn Chinese in just a few months. What do you think will happen when she starts learning ...and realize she needs to memorize 100,000 different characters in 60 days? She will get paralyzed. Fear will take hold of her. She will see that her goal is just not realistic. And in the end... She'll get discouraged and quit. That's why setting big unrealistic goals is setting yourself up for failure. You risk losing your motivation and the energy to keep moving forward. What should you do instead? Start celebrating small wins Why? Let me give you four reasons. Reason #1 has to do with energy When your energy levels are too low, it can be really challenging to accomplish anything. And it doesn't matter how hard you work on your goals. You'll always feel more attracted to the couch than to a treadmill. When you celebrate your small wins, you give yourself small energy bursts that will accumulate over time. Try it now . Think of something small you accomplished today. Even though it was very cold outside and you felt really tired. You went over that and took out the trash. So say to yourself... I'm so proud that even though the weather wasn't great, I overcame that feeling to keep my house clean!" Over time, you will notice that the little celebrations will give you little impulses of energy. And over time. Even though you'll probably still hate taking out the trash. You'll always have the energy to do it. Reason # 2 is related to personal and professional growth. Acknowledging small wins is really useful Especially when you're trying to form a new habit or make a lifestyle change. Behavior changes can be challenging. But... They can also be beneficial if you want to grow both on a personal and professional level. It can be easy to fall into the "all or nothing" trap. For example. Many people feel that if they can't quit a bad habit on their first try (such as smoking for example), they better give up. Positive reinforcement through celebrating small wins helps you get back on track after taking a temporary detour. Like celebrating you only had 3 cigarettes, for example. You never know... That small victory might lead you to only having none tomorrow. Reason # 3 is self-love. Loving yourself is the best decision you can make ... After all, you can always count on yourself. And if you learn to love yourself unconditionally... You will be able to overcome any challenge life throws your way. Celebrating little victories is one way of loving yourself. When people get married, they celebrate. On the birthdays of our loved ones, we celebrate. And these celebrations show the love we have for others. So, when you actively celebrate small wins. You're affirming the love you have for yourself. To show that you realize how amazing you are. Reason # 4 relates to happiness I don't know if you knew this but... Happiness is a result, not an end itself. When you're fully committed to your purpose in life... Your confidence increases. Your love for yourself grows. So if you want to experience happiness... You must find ways to bring meaning into your life. Celebrating your small can be a catalyst for this. And when you start doing this more often. That's when you'll start making things happen in your life. You'll no longer feel frustrated. Like you were failing to yourself every day. Instead, you'll feel successful. You won't stress over how to make your big goal come true. Instead, every little step you take... Will motivate you to keep taking action. And in the end, you will get to where you want to be. Always forward Simon P.S. If you want to learn to set goals for yourself that add true meaning to your life...
