I admit it. Back in the day, I was the kind of student... The one who studied for himself, and didn't think about his classmates. If there was a big test coming, I would just immerse myself in the books. I would wrap myself in a bubble and told myself I didn't have the time. But, I was about to learn a tough lesson... I remember once when I had to prepare for a big test in college. This topic was the core foundation of everything that would come next. Although I did understand most of it, there was a critical part that wasn't clear to me. Still, my knowledge on the topic was way deeper than most of my classmates. They didn't get it at all. So, they asked if I could stay after class to help them out. In my head, all I could think about was... "No! You need to go study this and figure out on your own what you don't understand! "If you stay, you'll just waste time!" They were the only friends I had inside the classroom, and I knew they were desperate. So I decided to stay. If we were sinking, at least we would sink together. It reminded me of that scene on Titanic were the violinists decide to keep on playing because they know the end is near. Anyhow, back to my story. I stayed after class and started explaining to my friends. They didn't understand anything, so I had to start from the very basics. I went over all the procedures and formulas with them. Again. And again. Then, all of a sudden... Boom! 💥 The part of the procedure I had been struggling with became clear to me. I just didn't believe how I couldn't see it before! It was right there in front of my eyes... So, I got myself to work and explained the whole thing to my friends. In the end, we all passed the test. That day, I learned a valuable lesson... The power of teaching others. See, when you teach, you get a deeper understanding of the subject. This is not just me saying it. Research has shown that when we explain something to others, we come to understand it better ourselves. We see things otherwise we wouldn't have seen before. We reorganize the gaps we have in our understanding. That's when we find the answers we were looking for. When we start thinking about others and become their teacher. Plus, you get a chance to help someone who needs it. So next time you're struggling with learning something, try teaching what you already know to others. It will surprise you. By the way, this is just one of the skills to accelerate learning I teach inside the Learn Anything Fast handbook. Not only that, but you'll learnall the techniques that I've used to learn complex skills in half the time to build a successful business from them.
