I was so focused on my goals it was literally making my life fall apart. Â Â Let me tell you something. Sometimes is not good to be too focused on your goals. At least not when you sacrifice other areas of your life to achieve what you want. It can literally make your life fall apart. Take me, for example. A couple of years ago when I started my business, I was passionate. I wanted to turn Lifehack into the biggest productivity and lifestyle blog on the internet. I wanted big things and had big dreams. And I was working extremely hard to get them. Working a lot of hours. Putting a lot of work to make my dreams happen. Problem is that I stopped paying attention to all other areas of my life. I took things for granted, and believed I had to give my undivided attention to my business. That everything else could be on hold... I thought to myself... "My family needs to understand I need to get this done now". "I don't need to rest. I can do that later". "That chronic back pain? There are more important things to take care of now". I naively believed all other areas of my life could wait until I achieved what I wanted. Then, everything started falling apart. I had been so busy and focused on my goals that I didn't see what was happening around me. My son was begging for my support and care. My wife was overwhelmed with the number of things she needed to take care of and needed my help. My back pain got worse to a point it was almost impossible to remain seated for long. My relationships with my friends and family were starting to suffer too. I was always distant from everyone. I never made the time to take care of my loved ones and people who were around me. I was just focused on my goal. Without realizing it, I was sacrificing everything around me. If that destructive behavior would have continued, I would have lost it all. Fortunately, at some point, I looked around and realized what I was doing was wrong. Something had to be done. If not, I would lose my friends, my health, and maybe even my family. The first step was to assess every area of my life. I needed to see clearly which aspects I had neglected the most and needed my attention. That's when I learned about the Six Full Life Aspects. There are six main aspects that we need to pay attention to if we want to live our lives to the fullest. They are: - Physical Health - Family & Relationships - Work & Career. - Money & Wealth - Spirituality - Mental Strength. Each of these areas is not self-sufficient. If we want any of them to grow, we need to take care of each of them. And if we stop paying attention for long, well... that's when we start seeing the consequences. When I evaluated myself in these six aspects, I came to a hard conclusion. I was failing at everything except my work life. I had been so focused on growing my business that all other areas of my life were starting to crumble. It wasn't easy to realize this, I was failing in everything except my work. So, I changed everything. I started spending more time with my family and friends. I decided to start exercising regularly and eating healthier foods. I started reading again and taking care of my spirituality. Basically, I set my priorities straight. That's when I started enjoying life again. Every single area of my life improved for the better. My relationships were healed. My back pain disappeared. Plus, I had more energy and motivation to keep growing my business. That's what happens when you work on all six main aspects of my life. To help you know where you do stand in every aspect of your life, I created a free guide called The 6 Full Life Aspects.
