  Hi there, Over the years as a life coach, I've found that many people fail to accomplish their goals, or find themselves giving up halfway because they were chasing after goals that were not aligned to what they really want - their purpose. I often ask my clients to describe in a sentence or two, what they want to achieve, what their goals are, or what makes them happy in life. But not everyone is able to confidently spell it out. Some struggle to describe what they envision, some have no idea at all what the outcome looks like... What about you? Have you found your purpose? Do you know why you want to break free from your current circumstances? In the past few days, I've been showing you how to shift your mindset, so you're confident to take control of your circumstances again. But that is only half the journey... In order to experience your breakthrough, you need to know what it is that you're going to be moving towards next. You need the right set of goals that align to your why. Otherwise, it's likely you'll encounter setbacks and failures again. But before I show you how to set the right goals, let's go deeper into what it means to have a purpose. Purpose is what differentiates the motivated from the demotivated, the achievers from the underachievers, and the happy from the unhappy. And Purpose is sustained by two things: Having Meaning, and Forward Movement. With these two as a foundation, you’ll have a power source that will feed you motivational energy indefinitely. So, how do you do these two things? Having Meaning is simple. Just ask yourself a question: Why? Why are you pursuing a certain goal? If the reason is vague or unclear, then your motivational energy will be the same. While motivation provides you energy to do something, that energy needs to be focused somewhere. So without meaning, there is no direction for your energy to be focused on. And you'll eventually find yourself losing focus and motivation, which is why some give up halfway or find themselves stuck. Yet, having a meaningful objective doesn’t mean you have to change the world or create A huge impact on society. The secret to meaningful work is simple: it should contribute value to something or someone that matters to you. Next, is gaining Forward Movement. In short, this means to just keep moving. As mentioned previously about trends, it's all about forward movement. Like a snowball, motivation from having progress creates momentum. So to keep this up, you have to keep moving. And the good news is, your progress doesn’t have to be huge for you to recognize it. Small amounts of progress can be just as motivating, as long as they keep coming. Creating a simple progress indicator like checklists or milestones, are a great way to visualize your small (and big) wins. They trigger your brain to recognize and acknowledge them, giving you small boosts of motivational energy. Of course, it's always easier said than done. There's still the possibility of encountering setbacks along the way no matter how much you plan things out.
