LibraryThing: State of the Thing Dear {NAME}, Welcome to the April 2018 State of the Thing. This month we're announcing our first annual Egg Hunt winners, plus a few feature reminders in case you missed them. If you'd rather receive a plain-text version, [edit your email preferences](. You can also [read it online](. Our newsletter archive lives [here](. You can like LibraryThing on [Facebook]( and follow [@LibraryThing]( on Twitter for up-to-the-minute site news and updates. Egg Hunt Winners Our first annual [LibraryThing Egg Hunt]( was held March 30th - April 6th, featuring clues written by LT staff and members alike. Participating members did an egg-cellent job with this one! Out of 22 hidden eggs, 4,609 members found at least one egg, and 432 of you found all 22 eggs. Egg #2 seems to have been the toughest, with only 515 members having found it. An eggs-tra special congratulations to our prize winners! Each of these 10 members found at least 15 (out of 22 total) eggs: alieceey, pfeaster, LadyBookHermit, TempleCat, Narilka, karenb, a-squared, LibraryPerilous, Maudee, olegalCA. We're already tossing around ideas for our next themed hunt (I'm a bit partial to the fossil theme, myself) on [Talk](, so come congratulate our winners and post your suggestions there! Did You Know? A new section we're adding this month to highlight features and details folks might have missed on LibraryThing! [LibraryThing mobile apps.]( Do you use LT's mobile apps? They're the fastest way to catalog your books, and check your collections on the go. Available for [iOS]( and [Android](. [Widgets.]( Showcase your LibraryThing catalog on your blog, personal website, or elsewhere on the web. Our [blog widget]( is our most popular widget—you can even highlight specific collections. [Significant places.]( LibraryThing's Common Knowledge feature lets members record interesting facts about books and authors—including significant places and locations! See books featuring Paris, France, and other cities [here](2C+France). Talk of the Thing [Club Read 2018.]( Club Read is now in its 10th year as a group on LibraryThing! Members log their reading for the year in their own thread, and it's never too late to join in. Create your own thread on [Talk](. [Favorite book read this month?]( What's your favorite book you've read in April 2018? Tell us about it on [Talk](. [Talk Like Shakespeare Day.]( April 23rd marked [the Bard's]( 454th birthday, and is also celebrated as [Talk Like Shakespeare Day](. Share your observances of the occasion, or favorite Shakespeare quotes [here](. In Case You Missed It: Litsy Last month, we [announced]( that LibraryThing had acquired the bookish mobile platform [Litsy](). We've written up a [Q&A on the blog]( to address what this means for LibraryThing as a whole. Please join the [Talk discussion]( to tell us what you think! Try Litsy out yourself (on iOS or Android): Free Books: Early Reviewers are not currently signed up for [LibraryThing's Early Reviewers]( program. You are missing out! Early Reviewers offers free books to members—about 100 titles a month! Since 2007, we've given out over 160,000 books. The catch? Publishers want your honest review. How you review a book won't help or hurt your chances of winning books in the future, but not reviewing your winning will. [» Sign up for Early Reviewers]( The April batch of [Early Reviewers]( books features 3,815 copies of 125 different titles. The deadline to request a free book is Monday, April 30th at 6pm, Eastern. Look for the May batch around the 7th. The most requested books so far from the April batch: TinyCat News [TinyCat]() is the online catalog for small libraries, created by LibraryThing. It turns your existing LibraryThing account into a simple, professional, web-based catalog. New Tiny Tutorials - [Patron export]( Check out our [Tiny Tutorials]( and [LibraryThing for TinyCat Users]( series. Every other week, Kristi highlights a different feature, and walks you through how to use it in 30 seconds or less. Other Resources - Email us tinycat@librarything.com - Follow us on [Twitter]( - More tutorials on our [YouTube Channel]( Weekly Webinars We also offer free, weekly webinars giving an overview of TinyCat every Wednesday, at 1pm Eastern. Join us for our next one, Wednesday, May 2nd, at 1pm Eastern. Head over to [this link]( at that time, and look for the TinyCat Webinar. If Wednesday at 1pm doesn't work for you, let us know—we'll be happy to schedule a session for you. You can also see a pre-recorded webinar from November 2017 [here](. Hot titles this month - [Little Fires Everywhere]( by Celeste Ng - [Artemis]( by Andy Weir - [Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda]( by Becky Albertalli - [Turtles All the Way Down]( by John Green - [The Hate U Give]( by Angie Thomas - [Origin]( by Dan Brown - [Norse Mythology]( by Neil Gaiman - [Into the Water]( by Paula Hawkins - [Lincoln in the Bardo]( by George Saunders - [A Gentleman in Moscow]( by Amor Towles That's it for this month. I'll see you all in May! Questions, comments, ideas? Send them my way. —Loranne (loranne@librarything.com) This message was sent to {NAME}.
