Why? Because of poor marketing. When AMD would come out with a dual-core CPU, Intel would just combine two single-core CPUs. Then when AMD would come out with a quad-core CPU, Intel would just combine two dual-core CPUs and call it a day. People who grew up in the 90s probably all remember the commercials with the 'Intel Inside' jingle. When I saw stickers on computers with 'quad-core', I'd get really excited. Being a gamer, I didn't know much about AMD at the time. But I knew a ton about Intel because of its marketing. I also knew a lot about Nvidia because ALL the gamers talked about Nvidia graphics cards. They were the best on the market and their marketing was solely word of mouth. As of today, these are the market caps: - Nvidia: 2.82 trillion - AMD: 225 billion - Intel: 85 billion Ideally, you get BOTH the product and the marketing right. Eric Siu :) Join Our Free Marketing Community arketing School has a free community.
