Let America Vote is leading the fight for voting rights. We're creating political consequences for politicians who make it harder to vote. Polls show that when presented the core principles of the bill — restricting the influence of dark money and expanding voting rights — Republicans and Democrats both overwhelmingly agree that the For the People Act is the best way to unrig the system and protect our democracy. The call also revealed the dark money groups' solution to the For the People Act’s wide bipartisan support: Ignore the will of the voters and work to kill the bill in Congress. That is why we need to make sure this critical piece of legislation passes the Senate and is put on Joe Biden’s desk. This Tuesday, May 11th, the Senate Rules Committee will begin markup of S.1 and we need to show up. ECU // LAV will be making thousands of calls to the Senate to show them we care about passing S.1 and dismantling voter suppression legislation, ending gerrymandering, and stopping corporate corruption. Can you join us and call your Senator’s office tomorrow to demand the passage of the For the People Act? Dial (202) 499-6085 to get connected. The For the People Act would give power to the people, stop billionaires from buying elections, and limit the outsized influence of big and dark money in politics by - Requiring political groups to disclose their largest donors and adding transparency rules for online political ad spending. - Empowering small donors through a matching system to open up our political system to more diverse voices and reduce the power of big money donors in elections and the policymaking process. - Closing campaign finance loopholes and ensuring the Federal Election Commission can do its job to uphold our laws and hold violators accountable. We have no time to waste in making sure the For The People Act passes and is signed into law. Call your Senator tomorrow at (202) 499-6085 and demand they support this important piece of legislation.
