Long lines, voting machine malfunctions, people simply getting out of line and going home — this is voter suppression. It’s outrageous, and we can’t let what happened in Georgia become a model for what happens nationwide in November. We know how to fix it. States need to expand vote-by-mail and early voting, and open enough in-person polling locations to ensure everyone can vote safely amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. And Congress needs to give them the money to do it. In May, House Democrats voted to give states $3.6 billion in election preparedness funds to ensure Americans don’t have to choose between their health and their vote, but Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is refusing to bring it up for a vote. [We need the Senate to act now.
