Amidst the recent barrage of bad news, itâs important to take time for ourselves to recharge and replenish our spirit to fight back. I spent the weekend marching in parades, celebrating with my family, and talking to voters doing the same. Nearly 250 years ago, our country declared its freedom from tyranny and began the experiment of democracy which would spread all across the world. Our founders had no illusions it would be easy to keep this democracy, a foresight which seems particularly wise given the unprecedented attacks on it we are now facing. But we will not back down. We will overcome the challenges of the time as our ancestors overcame the challenges of theirs. Now more than ever, I believe in the importance of the determination to live up to our ideals, a determination I saw shining through in the voters I spoke with this weekend.
