Super Bowl LVII picks + Tee Higgins addresses trade rumors  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ Feb 10, 2023 [Sign up]( [Legit Football]( Together With: Stathead [Stathead](  Super Bowl LVII [Lombardi Trophy] Super Bowl LVII: Eagles maintain favored status Vegas: Most sportsbooks continue to list the Eagles (-125 Moneyline) as a 1.5-point favorite over the Chiefs (+105 Moneyline). The over/under is currently set at 51 points. ESPN: ESPN asked 71 analysts, writers, commentators, columnists and pundits to pick the game. 45 of them (63.4%) are [picking]( the Eagles. While 26 (36.6%) are picking the Chiefs. - Interestingly, ESPN’s Chiefs reporter Adam Teicher — who presumably knows the team as well as anyone — is picking the Eagles to win 27-20. NFL.com: Of 24 NFL.com experts, 13 are picking the Eagles (54.2%) and 11 (45.8%) are picking the Chiefs. The [boldest]( of the bunch is Dan Hanzus, who has Kansas City winning 37-17. - Hanzus predicts that Patrick Mahomes will throw for more touchdowns (five) than incompletions (four). CBS Sports: The majority of experts at CBS Sports are [favoring]( Kansas City, with five picking the Chiefs and two picking the Eagles. Jamey Eisenberg — who has a pristine 190-92-1 season-long record — is going with the Chiefs. Narrative: Most think the game will come down to Mahomes’ ability (or inability) to overcome the Eagles’ historically dominant pass rush. Image: @NFL NFL Honors [Patrick Mahomes] NFL Honors: Patrick Mahomes named MVP MVP: MVP went to Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes. OPOY: Offensive Player of the Year went to Vikings WR Justin Jefferson. DPOY: Defensive Player of the Year went to 49ers DE Nick Bosa. OROY: Offensive Rookie of the Year went to Jets WR Garrett Wilson. DROY: Defensive Rookie of the Year went to Jets CB Sauce Gardner. CPOY: Comeback Player of the Year went to Seahawks QB Geno Smith. COY: Coach of the Year went to Giants HC Brian Daboll. ACOY: Assistant Coach of the Year went to 49ers DC DeMeco Ryans. Walter Payton: Walter Payton Man of the Year went to Cowboys QB Dak Prescott. HOF: The Hall of Fame class of 2023 will feature OT Joe Thomas (first-ballot), CB Darrelle Revis (first-ballot), CB Ronde Barber, coach Don Coryell, LB Chuck Howley, DL Joe Klecko, CB Ken Riley, LB Zach Thomas, and DE DeMarcus Ware. Image: Cliff Welch/Icon Sportswire Higgins [Tee Higgins] Tee Higgins shuts down trade speculation Background: Higgins is entering the final year of his contract and has thus been the subject of non-stop trade speculation. - Most of the speculation holds that the Bengals will prioritize extensions for Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase — leaving Higgins as the odd man out. Shocking: During a Thursday appearance on PFT Live, Higgins referred to the trade buzz as “shocking” and said that [none]( of the speculation has been coming from his camp. - Higgins also said that he loves Cincinnati and hopes to finish his career as a Bengal. Interesting: Ja’Marr Chase [told]( the NFL Network on Thursday, that he thinks Burrow “wants to set up his contract to keep some of his weapons around him.” - Burrow is expected to sign what could be the richest contract in NFL history this offseason. - Though perhaps he will take a page out of Tom Brady’s playbook and takes less — to maximize the Bengals’ competitive edge. Image: Mark Alberti/Icon Sportswire Colts [Jim Irsay] Jim Irsay flew to Philadelphia to meet with Shane Steichen Details: The Athletic’s Zak Keefer believes Irsay met with Eagles' offensive coordinator Shane Steichen — in Philadelphia — last weekend to [discuss]( the Colts' head coach vacancy. - Steichen participated in a formal interview with Colts GM Chris Ballard the following day. Connecting the Dots: Irsay’s willingness to make the trip indicates a high level of interest. While the organization’s decision to hold off on a hire until after the Super Bowl, implies that Steichen is the frontrunner. - If Irsay — who will make the final decision — was going to hire a different candidate, he probably would have done so already. Rookie QB: The Colts are widely expected to draft a quarterback in the first-round of the draft. Steichen — who has done fantastic work with Jalen Hurts — is clearly qualified to oversee the developmental process. Announcement: Keefer expects the head coaching announcement to come early next week. Image: Zach Bolinger/Icon Sportswire Carr [Derek Carr] Framework in place for Derek Carr to the Saints trade Details: The Raiders and Saints have agreed to the [parameters]( of a trade that would send Carr to New Orleans for what is expected to be a third-round pick. - Carr has a no-trade clause, so a deal cannot be finalized without his approval. Visit: Carr spent Wednesday and Thursday in New Orleans meeting with Saints brass. The festivities included a dinner with HC Dennis Allen and OC Pete Carmichael that [lasted]( until 10:30 p.m. Deadline: If Carr does not sign off on a trade, the Raiders will release him on Feb. 15 — before a large portion of his contract ($40.4 million) becomes fully guaranteed. Carr would then be free to sign with any team. Risk Assessment: If Carr gets traded, the acquiring team will inherit his existing contract — which is quite generous ($40.5 million annual average). If Carr refuses to waive his no-trade clause and gets released, he runs the risk of negotiating a lesser deal. - Some of the teams speculated to have interest in Carr, appear to be moving in different directions — Jets (hoping for Rodgers?), Titans (keeping Tannehill?), Commanders (moving forward with Howell), and Panthers (planning to draft). Image: Brian Rothmuller/Icon Sportswire Bears [Cole Kmet] Bears TE Cole Kmet and CB Jaylon Johnson in line for contract extensions Kmet: The Athletic’s Adam Jahns thinks Kmet is well-positioned to receive an [extension]( this offseason. The 23-year-old is entering the final year of his rookie contract. - Kmet caught 50-of-69 targets (72.5% catch rate) for 544 yards and 7 touchdowns in 2022. Value: Kmet’s extension figures to fall in the range of those given to Dawson Knox (four years, $53.6 million) and David Njoku (four years, $56.75 million) last year. Johnson: Contract negotiations between the Bears and Johnson have already begun. Like Kmet, he is entering the final year of his rookie contract. - Johnson allowed 30 catches on 51 targets (58.8% completion rate) for 452 yards and 1 touchdown in 2022. - He earned a 62.9 PFF grade. Value: Johnson could ask for something along the lines of the Charvarius Ward deal (three years, up to $42 million).
