TNF preview + Pro Bowl rosters revealed ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ?

TNF (Jaguars @ Jets) preview + Pro Bowl rosters revealed  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ December 22, 2022 [Sign up]( [Legit Football]( Together With: Stathead [Run Your Pool](  TNF [Garrett Wilson] TNF: Jets favored over the Jaguars by 1.5 Crucial: Both teams are fighting for playoff spots and can’t afford to lose this game. - The Jets (7-7) are one of nine teams contending for three AFC wild-card spots. A loss would be a substantial blow to the team's postseason hopes. - The Jaguars (6-8) are looking to surpass the Titans (7-7) in the AFC South. Wilson: Zach Wilson will get the start for New York. The second-year pro passed for 317 yards last week and will surely test a Jacksonville secondary that is yielding the fourth-most passing yards in the league (252.6 per game). Red Hot: The Jets’ top-tier defense will be tasked with shutting down Trevor Lawrence, who has been one of the league’s best quarterbacks over the past month. Key Matchup: Jaguars WR Zay Jones (6 catches for 109 yards and 3 touchdowns last week) will likely face Jets CB Sauce Gardner (allowed one catch or fewer in half of his games this season) in coverage. Rough Weather: Forecasts are calling for cold temps, rain, and high winds. - It’s worth noting that Lawerence committed five turnovers in a wet, windy game against the Eagles earlier this season. Image: Joshua Sarner/Icon Sportswire Pro Bowl [Jalen Hurts] Eagles lead NFL with 8 Pro Bowl selections 8: The eight Eagles are QB Jalen Hurts, RB Miles Sanders, WR A.J. Brown, G Landon Dickerson, RT Lane Johnson, C Jason Kelce, and OLB Haason Reddick. 5 or More: Five other teams had at least five players selected — Cowboys (seven), Chiefs (seven), Ravens (six), 49ers (six), and Vikings (five). - The Jaguars and Bears were the only teams with no Pro Bowl selections. AFC QBs: Patrick Mahomes was named the AFC’s starting quarterback. He’ll be backed up by Josh Allen and Joe Burrow. NFC QBs: Hurts was named the NFC’s starting quarterback. He’ll be backed up by Geno Smith and Kirk Cousins. New Format: A conventional football game will no longer be played at the Pro Bowl. Instead, the event will feature skill competitions and a flag football game. - [Click here to view the full Pro Bowl roster]( Image: Robin Alam/Icon Sportswire Carr [Derek Carr] Albert Breer: Derek Carr 50-50 to be back in Vegas next year Details: Breer thinks the Raiders will consider whether a free-agent quarterback — like Tom Brady or Jimmy Garoppolo — would be an [upgrade]( over Carr in the offseason. - Both Brady and Garoppolo have a background with Josh McDaniels and the Raiders’ front office. Carr in 2022: The Raiders (6-8) entered the season with Super Bowl aspirations, but find themselves well outside the playoff picture (No. 11 seed) with three weeks to go — in part due to inconsistent and at times mediocre play from Carr. - Carr has only appeared in one playoff game since taking over as the Raiders’ starter in 2014. Brady: Brady came [very close]( to joining the Raiders during his first free agency tour in 2020 and could be intrigued by the prospect of playing with Davante Adams and Darren Waller. Deadline: The front office will have to make a decision on Carr prior to Feb. 15 — which is when a $40 million injury guarantee fully vests. Breer thinks Carr’s performance to close out the season will have an impact on the Raiders’ decision. Image: David Rosenblum/Icon Sportswire Foles [Nick Foles] Nick Foles to start vs. Chargers Details: Foles will replace Matt Ryan, who has been [benched]( for the second time this season. - Ryan’s struggles played a significant role in the Colts’ embarrassing loss to the Vikings last week. Last Start: The last time Foles made a start (with the Bears in 2021), he completed 71.4% of his passes for 250 yards, 1 touchdown, and 0 interceptions. Impact: The Colts do not have a realistic shot at the playoffs, but improved quarterback play could bring the organization some much-needed momentum heading into the offseason. - Indianapolis could also play the role of spoiler, with two matchups against playoff contenders on the schedule — Chargers and Giants. Odds: The Chargers are a 4.5-point favorite this week. Image: Bailey Hillesheim/Icon Sportswire Titans [Ryan Tannehill] Ryan Tannehill likely to miss the rest of the season Details: According to Titans reporter Paul Kuharsky, Tannehill is “very likely done for the season” due to an [ankle injury]( that may require surgery. New Starter: Malik Willis, a rookie third-rounder, will assume the starting job. Joshua Dobbs — who was signed off the Lions' practice squad on Wednesday — will serve as the backup. Willis Profile: In two starts for an injured Tannehill earlier in the season, Willis completed just 42.3% of his passes for 135 yards, 0 touchdowns, and 1 interception. - While he hasn’t used his legs much as a rookie, Willis was a highly effective read-option quarterback in college. Running Game: The coaching staff did not trust Willis as a passer in his prior starts, so expect extra work for Derrick Henry — who rushed for 334 yards on 49 carries with Willis as the starter in Weeks 8 and 9. Schedule: The Titans have the Texans (1-12-1) Cowboys (10-4), and Jaguars (6-8) remaining on the schedule. - Tennessee (7–7) is just one game ahead of Jacksonville in the AFC South. Long Term: Tannehill has likely played his last down as a Titan (his contract has an escape clause after the season). Willis has an opportunity to position himself as the long-term replacement. Image: Michael Allio/Icon Sportswire McSorley [Trace McSorley] Trace McSorley to start on Christmas against the Bucs Details: McSorley will make his first career start in primetime against Tampa. - Colt McCoy has been ruled out with a concussion. McSorley Profile: McSorley, a 2019 sixth-round pick by the Ravens, has struggled across three game appearances this season — completing just 51.7% of his passes for 166 yards, 0 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions. - Though the 27-year-old impressed the team with his accuracy and scrambling ability in the preseason. - McSorely had an impressive 31-9 record as Penn State’s starting quarterback from 2016-2018. New Backup: David Blough, who joined the Cardinals last week, will serve as McSorley’s backup. Spoiler: McSorley will try to spoil the Bucs’ playoff positioning, as Tampa holds a slim one-game lead in the NFC South. Odds: The Bucs are a 7.5-point favorite.
