Formula for beating the Eagles revealed? + updated playoff picture  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ November 15, 2022 [Sign up]( [Legit Football]( Together With: Stathead [Stathead](  Commanders [Taylor Hienicke] Imperfect: Commanders upset Eagles 32-21 8-1: The Eagles’ bid for a perfect season is over. Formula: The Commanders attacked the Eagles on the ground (152 carries on 49 carries) and dominated time of possession — which kept Jalen Hurts off the field. - Time of Possession: WSH: 40:24, PHI: 19:36. J. Davis: The Eagles’ run defense has struggled ever since rookie DT Jordan Davis went down with a high ankle sprain in Week 8. The 6-6, 336-pounder is on IR and will miss at least two more games. - Those two games are against the Colts (Jonathan Taylor) and Packers (Aaron Jones). Turnovers: Uncharacteristic turnovers also played a role in the Eagles’ downfall. Both Dallas Goedert and Quez Watkins lost fumbles in the fourth quarter that probably swung the result. Though Goedert’s should have been overruled by a [missed]( facemask call. A.J.? A.J. Brown, who has been an X-factor all season, only caught 1-of-4 targets for 7 yards. He did briefly leave the game in the first quarter and may have been bothered by an ankle or foot issue. Heinicke: The win should keep Taylor Heinicke in the starting lineup over Carson Wentz (who is eligible to return next week). Heinicke completed 17-of-29 passes for 211 yards, no touchdowns, and 1 interception. His connection with Terry McLaurin (8 catches for 128 yards) remains strong. NFC East: The Eagles (8-1) are one game up on the Giants (7-2), two games up on the Cowboys (6-3), and three games up on the Commanders (5-5). Philadelphia is still the top seed in the NFC by way of a head-to-head victory over the Vikings (also 8-1). Image: Gregory Fisher/Icon Sportswire Cardinals [Zach Ertz] Zach Ertz (knee) will not return this season; Cardinals release RB Eno Benjamin Ertz: Ertz is expected to miss the remainder of the season with a [knee injury]( he sustained in the Cardinals’ win over the Rams. Impact: Ertz ranks first on the team in receptions (47) and third in yards (406). He's also caught 1 touchdown. McBride: Ertz will be replaced in the starting lineup by rookie Trey McBride. The second-rounder has caught 4-of-4 targets for 100 yards this season. - McBride caught 90 passes for 1,121 yards and 1 touchdown at Colorado State in 2021. Benjamin: The Cardinals' reason for releasing Benjamin — who started three games this season — has not been revealed. - Benjamin has totaled 483 scrimmage yards (299 rushing, 185 receiving) and 2 touchdowns on 94 touches (5.1 yards per touch). - The 23-year-old is healthy and should attract interest on waivers. RB Depth: Rookie sixth-rounder Keontay Ingram will serve as the primary backup to James Conner. Image: Brian Rothmuller/Icon Sportswire Saints [Jameis Winston] Saints to consider a QB change Details: Coach Dennis Allen told reporters on Monday that he is open to [benching]( Andy Dalton for Jameis Winston. - Dalton has won just two of seven starts since taking over Winston in Week 4. He’s averaging 222.7 passing yards, 1.6 passing touchdowns, and 1.0 interceptions per game. Recent Struggles: The Saints’ offense has only scored 23 combined points over the last two weeks and could use a jolt. Winston: Winston went 1-2 through the first three weeks of the season. He averaged 286.0 passing yards, 1.3 passing touchdowns, and 1.7 interceptions per game. Health: Allen said he’s going to visit with the medical staff before making a decision, as Winston is dealing with a lingering foot issue. More Saints News... - There are already calls for the Saints to [fire]( Allen, who has guided the team to a disappointing 3-7 record this season. - Dr. David Chao (ProFootballDoc) [thinks]( Michael Thomas’ toe injury could be career-ending. Image: David Jensen/Icon Sportswire Panthers [Baker Mayfield] P.J. Walker has a high ankle sprain; Baker Mayfield to start at QB Walker: Walker, who has gone 2-3 as the starter this season, is likely to miss multiple games. Mayfield: Mayfield looked good in his last appearance — completing 14-of-20 passes for 155 yards and 2 touchdowns in the second half of the Panthers’ Week 7 loss to the Bengals. - Though in five starts prior to that performance, he was arguably the worst starting quarterback in the league — 54.9% completion rate, 192.4 yards, 0.8 touchdowns, 0.8 interceptions per game. Darnold: Sam Darnold, who lost the quarterback competition to Mayfield in training camp, will serve as the backup. More Panthers News... - Carolina has averaged 159.5 rushing yards per game since trading Christian McCaffrey — with McCaffrey they averaged 89.9 yards per game. - CB Donte Jackson (55.0 PFF grade) tore his Achilles and will [miss]( the remainder of the season. Image: Ian Johnson/Icon Sportswire Raiders [Mark Davis] Raiders owner Mark Davis voices support for Josh McDaniels Background: The Raiders lost to the Colts on Sunday and fell to 2-7 on the season. - Davis met with McDaniels on Monday to discuss the long-term vision of the franchise. Patience: After the meeting, Davis [told]( ESPN, “People in today's world want instant gratification. The guy's coached nine games. We're 2-7, not the results we're looking for but at the same time we've lost six one-score games with the ball and a chance to win at the end.” - Davis also offered the cliched “Rome was not built in a day." Big Fall: Last season, the Raiders dealt with major off-the-field distractions (Henry Ruggs, Jon Gruden) and still managed to make the playoffs. McDaniels basically inherited the same roster and spent big on Davante Adams and Chandler Jones — so the fans’ disappointment in the head coach goes beyond their desire for “instant gratification.” Tillery: In other news, the Raiders [claimed]( former Chargers DL Jerry Tillery off waivers. Seven other teams — Lions, Panthers, Colts, 49ers, Jets, Giants, and Chiefs — put in claims for the 2019 first-rounder. Image: Rich Graessle/Icon Sportswire Interesting [Jeff Wilson] Interesting File: Cole Kmet, Jeff Wilson, Playoff Picture Kmet: Cole Kmet is the [highest-scoring]( tight end in fantasy football over the last three weeks. He’s caught 11 passes for 126 yards and 5 touchdowns in Weeks 8-10. Wilson: Wilson totaled 143 scrimmage yards (119 rushing, 24 receiving) and a touchdown on 19 touches in the Dolphins’ win over the Browns. - Wilson (61%) out-snapped Raheem Mostert (28%) and appears to be the lead back in Miami. NFC Playoff Picture: If the season ended today… 1. Eagles (8-1), 2. Vikings (8-1), 3. Seahawks (6-4), 4. Buccaneers (5-5), 5. Giants (7-2), 6. Cowboys (6-3), and 7. 49ers (5-4). AFC Playoff Picture: If the season ended today… 1. Chiefs (7-2), 2. Dolphins (7-3), 3. Titans (6-3), 4. Ravens (6-3), 5. Jets (6-3), 6. Bills (6-3), and 7. Patriots (5-4).
