Eagles [Dallas Goedert] TNF: Eagles overcome slow start to beat Texans 29-17 Tough Fight: The game â which was supposed to be an Eaglesâ blowout â was tied into the third quarter. Houston ran the ball well and had a surprising level of success against the Eaglesâ elite offensive line (4 sacks). - Rookie running back sensation Dameon Pierce rushed for 139 yards on 27 carries. CGJ: Eagles safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson broke the game open with an interception that set up a tie-breaking Jalen Hurts-to-A.J. Brown touchdown. - Gardner-Johnson leads the league in interceptions (5) and has picked off a pass in four consecutive games. PHI Standouts: Eagles DT Javon Hargrave had 3 sacks of Davis Mills. CB James Bradberry intercepted his third pass of the season. Perfect: The Eagles are 8-0 for the first time in franchise history. The only teams with winning records on the remaining schedule are the Titans, Giants, and Cowboys. Next Up: The Eagles host the Commanders (4-4). The Texans (1-6-1) visit the Giants (6-2). Image: Leslie Plaza Johnson/Icon Sports Thomas [Michael Thomas] Saints WR Michael Thomas to have season-ending toe surgery Details: Thomas will need surgery to [repair]( a dislocated toe. - HC Dennis Allen told reporters he doesnât anticipate Thomas returning this year. Season Review: Thomas caught 16-of-22 targets for 171 yards and 3 touchdowns in three games this season. Durability: Injuries have limited Thomas to just ten games over the past three seasons (2020-2022). - He was a first-team All-Pro in 2018 and 2019. Contract: Thomas, who has been subject to trade rumors in the past, is under contract through 2024. WR Depth: Rookie sensation Chris Olave (37-547-2) has emerged as the Saintsâ top receiver. Jarvis Landry, who has been out since Week 4 with an ankle injury, practiced on Thursday and is progressing toward a return. Image: Jordon Kelly/Icon Sportswire Akers [Cam Akers] Cam Akers has returned to the Rams Details: Akers, who has been away from the team for two weeks, [participated]( in practice on Thursday and could play against the Buccaneers Sunday afternoon. - Akers left the team over disagreements with Sean McVay.
- The Rams tried to trade the 23-year-old running back but found [no]( takers. Stats: In five games (two starts) this season, Akers has rushed for 151 yards and 1 touchdown on 51 carries (3.0 ypc). Encouraged: McVay said earlier this week that he recently had encouraging conversations with Akers and his agent â but did not rule out the possibility of a release. Second Worst: The Rams rank second-to-last in rushing yards (68.4 per game) and yards per attempt (3.3) this season. The teamâs other backs have not been much better than Akers â Darrell Henderson Jr. (3.9 ypc), Malcolm Brown (2.1 ypc), and Ronnie Rivers (2.3 ypc). Odds: The Bucs are favored over the Rams by 3-points. Image: Jordon Kelly/Icon Sportswire Bateman [Rashod Bateman] Rashod Bateman to have season-ending Lisfranc surgery Details: Bateman needs Lisfranc surgery on his left foot and will [miss]( the remainder of the season. Playmaker: The 2021 first-rounder caught 15-of-28 targets for 285 yards and 2 touchdowns in six games. His average of 19 yards per catch ranks second in the NFL. Impact: Losing Bateman is a big blow to a Ravensâ offense that ranks 26th in passing yards (193.8 per game). Lamar Jackson has thrown just 5 touchdown passes in his last four games. - Bateman has caught three of the five +30 yard passes Jackson has completed this season. WR Depth: The Ravens are down to four receivers on the active roster â Devin Duvernary (24-313-3), Demarcus Robinson (15-140-1), Tylan Wallace (3-21-0), and James Proche II (4-31-0). - Desean Jackson, who was signed to the Ravens practice squad last month, will likely be activated for Mondayâs game against the Saints. Likely: Rookie tight end Isiah Likely should continue to see an increased role. The fourth-rounder caught 6 passes for 77 yards and 1 touchdown last week. More Injuries: The Ravens are also dealing with injuries to Mark Andrews (shoulder) and Gus Edwards (hamstring). Neither practiced on Thursday. Image: Randy Litzinger/Icon Sportswire Titans [Ryan Tannehill] Ryan Tannehill and Derrick Henry did not practice on Thursday Tannehill: Tannehill, who did not play last week, is dealing with an ankle injury. He told reporters that he is unsure if he'll play against the Chiefs on Sunday. - Malik Willis completed 6-of-10 passes for 55 yards, no touchdowns, and 1 interception in place of Tannehill last week. Henry: Derrick Henry did not practice with a foot issue â which raised alarms because of the serious foot injury he dealt with last year. - When asked to address the issue, Henry said his foot is âfineâ and that he âwill be out there on Sunday playing.â Hot Streak: Henry leads the league with 107.9 rushing yards per game and is already up to 755 yards and 7 touchdowns on the season. He has run for over 100 yards in each of the last four games. Odds: The Chiefs are a 12.5-point favorite over the Titans. Image: Bryan Lynn/Icon Sportswire Elite [Dexter Lawrence] Jeffrey Simmons, Dexter Lawrence, and Quinnen Williams emerging as elite defensive tackles J. Q. Williams: Mosher calls Williams â who has a 90.8 PFF grade â one of the âmost disruptive pass-rushers in the league.â Williams has 6 sacks, 5 tackles for loss, and 16 quarterback hits in eight games with the Jets this season.
