The four teams in contact with Odell Beckham Jr. + an interesting report on the Cowboys  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ November 03, 2022 [Sign up]( [Legit Football]( Together With: Stathead [Run Your Pool](  Odell [Odell Beckham Jr.] Albert Breer reveals the four teams that have touched base with Odell Beckham Details: Breer told Rich Eisen on Wednesday that the Bucs, Bills, Packers, and Rams have been in [contact]( with Beckham. Process: Breer thinks Beckham will wait until he is closer to full health before making a decision. - Beckham wants to see which team can offer him a significant role and another chance at a Super Bowl. Bucs: Beckham has long been connected to the Bucs because of his desire to play with Tom Brady. Beckham would provide the deep speed that Brady has been missing this season. - Though Tampa will need to start winning games to have a serious shot at the soon-to-be 30-year-old playmaker (his birthday is on Saturday). Bills: If a Super Bowl is at the top of Beckham’s list, then the Bills are an easy choice. He’d also be reunited with close friend Von Miller — who is [adamant]( that Beckham will end up in Buffalo. Packers: If Beckham wants to play where he is most needed, then the Packers make the most sense. Green Bay is desperate for receiver help after coming up empty at the trade deadline and might be willing to offer Beckham the most attractive contract. Rams: Beckham enjoyed his time with the Rams last season and would provide a much-needed boost to Sean McVay’s struggling offense. Though the Rams, like the Bucs and Packers, need to start winning games to have a realistic chance. Image: Brian Rothmuller/Icon Sportswire Colts [Jonathan Taylor] Jonathan Taylor aggravated his ankle injury; Deon Jackson elevated to RB2 Details: Frank Reich confirmed to reporters on Wednesday that Taylor has [aggravated]( the ankle injury that forced him to miss two games earlier this season. - Taylor has not practiced this week and appears doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Patriots. Jackson: Deon Jackson will operate as Taylor’s top backup. The second-year pro has totaled 208 scrimmage yards (100 rushing, 108 receiving) and scored 1 touchdown on 44 touches (4.7 yards per touch) this season. - Jackson was elevated to the top backup spot following the trade of Nyheim Hines. - Zack Moss, who the Colts got in return for Hines, could pass Jackson on the depth chart once he gets acclimated to the playbook. Odds: The Patriots are a 5.5-point favorite over the Colts. Image: Jeffrey Brown/Icon Sportswire Cowboys [Jerry Jones] Cowboys came close to acquiring Brandin Cooks at the trade deadline Details: According to multiple reports, the Cowboys and Texans discussed a trade involving Cooks up until the [final minutes]( of the deadline. - A deal was not reached because of issues regarding Cooks’ $18 million base salary in 2023. - There’s [speculation]( that Cooks — who is upset that he wasn't dealt — could try to force his way off the team (à la Odell Beckham last year). Revealing: The Cowboys’ interest reveals possible internal concern over the team’s lack of depth at receiver. Gallup: Some of that concern could be over Michael Gallup, who has been slow to produce since returning from major knee surgery. The 26-year-old has caught just 12-of-23 targets (52.2% catch rate) for 135 yards and 1 touchdown in five games. More Cowboys News... - LT Tyron Smith (hamstring) is [3-4 weeks]( away from returning to practice. - With newly acquired DT Jonathan Hankins on the field last week, the Cowboys’ run defense [gave up]( an average of 3.5 yards per carry — when he was off the field they allowed an average of 5.7 yards. Image: Matthew Pearce/Icon Sportswire Keenan [Keenan Allen] Keenan Allen has suffered a hamstring setback Details: Allen did not practice on Wednesday and told reporters that he suffered a hamstring [setback]( during the Chargers’ bye week. - Allen strained his hamstring in the season opener and missed the Chargers’ next five games (Weeks 2-6). - He returned in Week 7 but was put on snap count because the injury was not fully healed. Setback: Allen does not think the setback is overly serious, but made clear that he will not return until he is 100% healthy. WR Depth: With Allen looking doubtful for Week 9 and Mike Williams out at least three more weeks — the Chargers will turn to Josh Palmer (26-240-1), DeAndre Carter (19-229-1), Jason Moore Jr. (1-50-0), and Michael Bandy (4-40-0) at the position. - More targets can be expected for Austin Ekeler and tight end Gerald Everett. Odds: The Chargers are a 3.5-point favorite over the Falcons. Image: Jevone Moore/Icon Sportswire Steelers [George Pickens] George Pickens set for a big role following Claypool trade Details: According to Josina Anderson, confidence in Pickens was a [key factor]( in the Steelers' decision to let go of Claypool. Flashed: Pickens has flashed major talent when utilized this season — he’s caught 26-of-43 targets (60.5% catch rate) for 338 yards and 1 touchdown. Targets: Pickens stands to inherit some of the 6.3 targets Claypool was averaging per game. More Looks: Tight end Pat Freiermuth and slot receiver Steven Sims are also in contention for expanded usage. More Steelers News... - If the season ended today, the Steelers (2-6) would have the No. 5 overall pick in the 2023 draft. - Najee Harris is only averaging 1.3 yards after contact — which is down almost a full yard from last season. Image: Peter Joneleit/Icon Sportswire TNF [Jalen Hurts] TNF: Eagles favored over the Texans by 13.5 Run Heavy: It would not be surprising to see the Eagles take a run-heavy approach tonight, as the Texans have the worst run defense in football this season. - Opponents are averaging 5.6 yards per rush attempt against Houston. - The Titans rushed for 314 yards on the Texans last week. Homecoming: Jalen Hurts — who was born in Houston — should torment the Texans' defense and keep the Eagles’ perfect season intact. - Hurts is averaging an NFC-best 300.3 yards of offense (passing+rushing) this season. Worth Watching: Robert Quinn’s performance is worth monitoring. The 32-year-old was struggling in Chicago before getting traded last week and only earned a 40.1 PFF grade (0 tackles on 20 snaps) in his first game with the Eagles this past Sunday. HOU WR Issues: Davis Mills could be without his top two receivers — Nico Collins has already been ruled out with a groin injury and Brandin Cooks is listed as questionable for personal reasons. The only receivers left on the depth chart are Phillip Dorsett (4-66-1), Chris Moore (10-128-1), and Tyron Johnson (0-0-0). Rookie Excitement: The Texans are in rebuild mode and started a franchise-record eight rookies last week. The team has been particularly encouraged by RB Dameon Pierce (fourth-round), CB Derek Stingley Jr. (first-round), and S Jalen Pitre (second-round). Image: Andy Lewis/Icon Sportswire More News - [Dolphins]( signed OLB Bradley Chubb to a five-year, $119 million extension ($63.2 million guaranteed) - [Commanders]( under investigation for financial improprieties; Daniel Snyder to consider selling the team - [Packers]( WR Christian Watson (concussion) did not practice; WR Allen Lazard (shoulder) returned to practice - [Rams]( WR Cooper Kupp (ankle) did not practice - [Rams]( RB Cam Akers remains away from the team - [Eagles]( placed DT Jordan Davis (ankle) on IR - [Lions]( RB D'Andre Swift (ankle, shoulder) did not practice - [Panthers]( RB Chuba Hubbard (ankle) returned to practice - [Chiefs]( WR Kadarius Toney on track for Week 9 debut - [Titans]( QB Ryan Tannehill (ankle) was limited in practice Together with Stathead Question of the Day Who has the highest bad throw rate (min. 100 pass attempts)? - Derek Carr - Justin Fields - Zach Wilson - Carson Wentz Unlock the Pro Football Reference database with Stathead Football.
