Wilks: In his only experience as a head coach, Wilks went 3-13 with the Cardinals in 2018. He is not considered to be a permanent candidate for the position. Payton: Payton will likely be the most sought-after head coach in NFL history next offseason. The former Super Bowl champion is sure to attract interest from billionaire owner David Tepper — though the rival Saints control Payton’s contractual rights, which could make negotiations difficult. Quinn: Quinn is considered a lock for a head coaching job in 2023. He’s done a phenomenal job turning around the Cowboys’ defense and had moments of greatness over his six-year tenure as the Falcons’ head coach from 2015 to 2020. - Quinn would inherit a Panthers’ defense flush with young talent — DT Derrick Brown, DE Brian Burns, and CB Jaycee Horn. Denial: The Bills and/or Panthers were quick to leak a denial, as Tom Pelissero (NFL Network) tweeted that Carolina has [not]( had trade talks about McCaffrey with any team this offseason. Florio's Take: Mike Florio thinks there’s a strong chance conversations between the two teams have taken place, as it would make [sense]( for the soon-to-be rebuilding Panthers to offload McCaffrey… and for the contending Bills to be interested in a game-changing player. Connection: Florio points out that Bills’ GM Brandon Beane was with the Panthers when the organization selected McCaffrey in 2017. Fit: When healthy, McCaffrey is one of the league’s best offensive players.
