Saquon Barkley update + hype is building around the Eagles â â â â â â â â â â â â â  â â â â â â â â â â â â â  â â â â â â â â â  â â â â â â â â â â â â â  â â â â â â â â â â â â â  â â â â â â â â â  â â â â â â â â â â â â â  â â â â â â â â â â â â â  â â â â â â â â â August 17, 2022 [Sign up]( [Legit Football]( Barkley [Saquon Barkley] Jordan Raanan: Saquon Barkley looks the best he has in years Details: Raanan (ESPN) adds that Barkley will handle a â[huge](â workload this upcoming season, as the Giants have virtually no established depth at running back. - He also thinks Barkley will be heavily featured in the passing game. Training Camp: Barkley, who is fully healthy, has impressed virtually every Giants beat reporter with his âexplosiveâ training camp performance. Steve Serby (New York Post) [writes]( that there âshould be no reason why Barkley does not get 20 touches and beyond on any given Sunday.â O-Line: According to Raanan, the âstrength of the Giantsâ offensive line appears to be its run-blocking.â Which is a significant development for Barkley, who has struggled to find running room over the past few seasons. - The team added upgrades at center (Jon Feliciano), right guard (Mark Glowinski), and right tackle (Evan Neal) over the offseason. 2018: In his only fully healthy season (rookie year in 2018), Barkley rushed for 1,307 yards and 11 touchdowns and caught 91 passes for 721 yards and 4 touchdowns. If he can stay on the field â those numbers could become a reality again. Image: Nicole Fridling/Icon Sportswire Eagles [Swoop] BetMGM elevates Eaglesâ over-under win total to 9.5 games Background: The Eagles [opened]( the offseason at 8.5 wins. Hurts: The elevation can likely be attributed to the positive buzz surrounding Jalen Hurts. The 24-year-old quarterback is in the midst of a strong training camp and looked excellent in the Eaglesâ preseason game against the Jets. - Hurts completed 6-of-6 passes for 80 yards, 1 touchdown, and 0 interceptions. WRs: Expectations for the Eaglesâ receiver group â led by A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith â are also sky high. Beyond the big two, the team is optimistic about Quez Watkins (a speedy vertical threat) and Zach Pascal (a reliable veteran). Defense: Another contributing factor for oddsmakers could be an Eagles' defense that looks â on paper at least â vastly improved from 2021. The team notably added LB Haason Reddick and CB James Bradberry in free agency and selected DT Jordan Davis and LB Nakobe Dean during the draft. - In the preseason game, Davis flashed physical [dominance]( and Dean earned a strong [85.1]( PFF grade. NFC East: The Eagles updated over-under win total is ahead of the Commanders (8.5) and Giants (7.5) but below the Cowboys (10.5). Image: Andy Lewis/Icon Sportswire Godwin [Chris Godwin] Chris Godwin (ACL) has begun 7-on-7 work Details: Godwin, who tore his ACL last December, participated in 7-on-7s for the [first time]( this year. - According to JC Allen (Pewter Report), Godwin [caught]( all of his targets and looked âsmoothâ cutting and running routes. Top Target: Before getting injured last December, Godwin led the Bucs in targets, catches, and yards. He was the sixth-highest scoring receiver in fantasy. Week 1? While the ramp-up is a sign of significant progress, HC Todd Bowles did not commit to Godwin playing in the season opener against Dallas. More Buccaneers News... - Mike Evans continues to miss practice with a hamstring issue.
- Rachaad White can [earn]( the No. 2 RB role. Image: Cliff Welch/Icon Sportswire Lock [Drew Lock] Drew Lock has COVID, will miss preseason game on Thursday Details: Lock was slated to start on Thursday. His [absence]( will create an opportunity for Geno Smith to push ahead in the quarterback battle. Lock: Lock put together an excellent performance against the Steelers last week. He completed 11-of-15 passes for 102 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions. Smith: Smith was solid but did not account for any touchdowns. He completed 10-of-15 passes for 101 yards. More Seahawks News... - The Seahawks' offensive line â a major weakness last season â was [fantastic]( against the Steelers.
- Rookie tackles Charles Cross (left) and Abe Lucas (right) were particularly [impressive](.
- Rookie RB Ken Walker has a [hernia]( injury. Image: Zach Bolinger/Icon Sportswire Sauce [Sauce Gardner] Jets rookie CB Sauce Gardner has been phenomenal in training camp Details: The Athleticâs Zach Rosenblatt recently [wrote]( that âGardner has had a great camp. (Iâm) not sure Iâve seen him get beat one-on-one a single time.â Preseason: In the Jetsâ first preseason game, Gardner was not targeted on 11 coverage snaps. The Eaglesâ first and second-string offensive units did not show interest in testing the talented rookie. Big Boost: The Jetsâ defense allowed the third-most passing yards (254.9 per game) last season. The addition of Gardner alone should lead to a reduction in that number. More Jets News... - Zack Wilson had [succesful]( knee surgery and is eyeing an early-season return.
- Rookie WR Garrett Wilson [gushed]( about interim starter Joe Flacco after practice on Tuesday. Image: Andy Lewis/Icon Sportswire Woods [Robert Woods] Robert Woods is earning Ryan Tannehillâs trust, will see significant targets Details: The insight comes from Turron Davenport (ESPN), who writes that Woods is building strong [chemistry]( with Tannehill because of his sure-hands, precise route running, and excellence in contested catch situations. No. 1: The implication is that Woods will serve as Tannehillâs go-to target and lead the team in all receiving categories. Targets: In his last three healthy seasons with the Rams (2018-2020), Woods averaged 132 targets per season (8.5 per game). With A.J. Brown (8.1 targets per game) and Julio Jones (4.8 targets per game) no longer on the Titans, Woods could approach the 130 target mark in 2022. On Track: Woods, who suffered an ACL tear last November, has been practicing in full and is on track to play in the season-opener against the Giants. - While Woods is not a particularly exciting or flashy receiver, his fantasy value is obvious. WR Depth: Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, Dez Fitzpatrick, Racey McMath, Kyle Phillips, and Treylon Burks will operate behind Woods. Burks, by all accounts, is struggling with his transition to the pro game.
