Najee [Najee Harris] The Steelers want to lighten Najee Harrisâ workload; may sign a veteran backup Details: According to Mark Kaboly (The Athletic) the Steelers want to reduce Harrisâ workload by about [seven]( snaps per game. - Harris totaled 980 snaps last season and led the league in touches with 381 (307 carries, 74 receptions). Impact: Seven snaps per game equates to 119 snaps over a 17-game season. As it stands now, backups Benny Snell and Anthony McFarland Jr. are in line to absorb those snaps. - Harris averaged 1.7 scrimmage yards per snap last season. So 119 lost snaps could lead to 202 fewer yards. Addition? Kaboly thinks the Steelers could wait until rosters are cut down in September to add a veteran back. He lists Myles Gaskin, Chris Carson (health permitting), Tevin Coleman, and DâOnta Foreman as possible fits, should they get cut. Image: Shelley Lipton/Icon Sportswire N'Keal [N'Keal Harry] Patriots trade WR NâKeal Harry to the Bears Details: The Patriots will get a 2024 [seventh-round]( pick in return. Harry Profile: New England selected Harry (out of Arizona State) in the first round of the 2019 draft. Since then heâs caught 57 passes for 598 yards and 4 touchdowns. - Last season, Harry caught 12 of 22 targets (54.5% catch-rate) for 184 yards and no touchdowns. Fit: The Bears have the shallowest receiver depth chart in the league, so Harry will have an opportunity to contribute and possibly start opposite Darnell Mooney. Harryâs size (6-4, 225) and physical traits (check out his college [highlight]( tape) still hint at untapped playmaking potential â especially in the red zone. Impact in NE: The Harry pick will go down as a massive missed opportunity for the Patriots â as they selected him over DK Metcalf, A.J. Brown, Deebo Samuel, and Terry McLaurin. That said, the team is well-stocked at receiver going into training camp. - NE WR Depth: DeVante Parker, Jakobi Meyers, Kendrick Bourne, Nelson Agholor, Tre Nixon (who was a minicamp standout), and second-round rookie Tyquan Thornton. Image: Ken Murray/Icon Sportswire Raiders [Ndamukong Suh] Raiders could eventually sign a right tackle, kick the tires on Ndamukong Suh Details: Tashan Reed (The Athletic) thinks the Raiders could use some of their $21 million in cap space on a [significant]( addition. Right Tackle: Alex Leatherwood (45.0 PFF grade) and Brandon Parker (55.8 PFF grade) struggled at right tackle last season. Reed points to Daryl Williams, Bobby Massie, Brandon Shell, and Riley Reiff as potential veteran upgrades. - Instability on the offensive line threatens the upside of the Raiders' flashy offense (Davante Adams, Hunter Renfrow, Darren Waller).
- PFF ranked the Raidersâ offensive line as the [fifth-worst]( in the league last season.
- To win the AFC West, the Raiders will have to protect against highly talented pass-rushers â Chargers (Joey Bosa, Khalil Mack), Broncos (Bradley Chubb, Randy Gregory), Chiefs (Chris Jones). Suh: Reed notes that the Raiders defensive tackle group lacks âproven pass-rush juiceâ outside of Bilal Nichols and thinks Suh, who totaled 6 sacks for the Buccaneers last year, would provide an immediate boost. - Suh [teased]( interest in joining the Raiders last month. Image: Cliff Welch/Icon Sportswire Breece [Breece Hall] RB Breece Hall is expected to play 60 to 65 percent of the Jetsâ offensive snaps Details: The [insight]( comes from Connor Hughes (The Athletic), who expects second-year back Michael Carter to receive the remainder. Rationale: According to Hughes, the Jets believe Hall possesses immediate Pro Bowl upside and is a threat to score anytime the ball is in his hands. Carter, on the other hand, is seen as a complementary back in the mold of Bilal Powell. Hall Profile: Hall, who the Jets took in the second round, totaled 1,774 scrimmage yards (1,472 rushing, 302 receiving) and scored 23 touchdowns at Iowa State last season. At 5-foot-11, 217 pounds, he ran the 40-yard dash in an outstanding 4.39 seconds. - Hall [broke]( 63 tackles (5.25 per game) in 2021. Carter Profile: Carter, who the Jets took in the fourth round last year, totaled 964 scrimmage yards (639 rushing, 325 receiving) and scored 4 touchdowns as a rookie. He reeled in 36 of 55 targets (65.5% catch-rate). Image: breecethebeast23 on Instagram Panthers [Terrace Marshall] David Newton: Three players need to step up for the Panthers to make the playoffs in 2022 Details: Newton (ESPN) thinks WR Terrace Marshall Jr., LB Frankie Luvu, and CB C.J. Henderson are [key]( to the Panthers making the playoffs this upcoming season. Marshall: Marshall, a 2021 second-rounder, caught 17 of 30 targets (56.7% catch-rate) for 138 yards and no touchdowns across 13 games as a rookie. A step up from Marshall will provide Baker Mayfield with a dynamic fourth option in the passing game â joining DJ Moore, Robbie Anderson, and Christian McCaffrey. - Panthers HC Matt Rhule recently told reporters that he expects a âton of productionâ from Marshall in 2022. Luvu: Luvu is a candidate to replace Haason Reddick in the starting lineup. Reddick, who signed with the Eagles in March, led the team in sacks last year with 11. Luvu totaled 1.5 sacks and 8 tackles for loss in a limited role last season. He was the teamâs highest graded-defender (84.8) according to PFF. Henderson: The Panthers acquired Henderson (the ninth overall pick of the 2020 draft) via trade with the Jaguars last September. Henderson did not make much of an impact following the trade but has apparently impressed his teammates during offseason workouts. - The emergence of Henderson would give DC Steve Wilks three talented corners to work withâ he also has Jaycee Horn (2021 first-rounder) and Donte Jackson (who signed a three-year, $35 million extension in March). Image: Leslie Plaza Johnson/Icon Sports Gronk [Rob Gronkowski] Rob Gronkowski says he wonât return, even if Tom Brady asks Details: When asked about un-retiring if Tom Brady asked him to, Gronkowski [said](: âI would answer, obviously, the greatest quarterback of all time, ask him how he's doing. Tell him I'm doing good. But I wouldn't go back to football. No." - There had been speculation, including from Gronkowski's agent, that the 33-year-old would consider an in-season return. Impact: Brady will have to proceed with Cam Brate and rookie Cade Otton as his primary tight ends. Though the Bucs could (and likely will) add to the position before the season begins â Kyle Rudolph has been [floated]( as a possible signing. - Gronkowski caught 55 passes for 802 yards and 6 touchdowns over twelve games last season.
