I done goofed and have some ‘splainin' to do . . .  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ Hey there, Every so often, I get the opportunity to look back on something I’ve said or done and go . . . “wow, dumb.” This is one of them. You see, last Friday, I sent out an email about my new immune support supplement that was . . . shall we say . . . a bit tone-deaf. It was exactly the type of email I’m wont to write (freewheeling and flippant), which was exactly the problem given the gravity of the global situation. And, understandably, my words rubbed some people the wrong way. To them, it looked like I was making light of the pandemic and the people who are suffering and dying. What’s more, the email was to promote a new product that supports immune function, making it appear to some as a shameful attempt to “cash in” on the crisis. And I totally understand those reactions, especially from people who have recently entered my orbit and don’t know if they should trust me or not. This is a mea culpa. The optics gaffe is obvious in hindsight, but wasn't before hitting the send button, because I was only looking at the situation through my eyes, [which don't see an approaching Armageddon](. I also spend very little time on social media and am surrounded by people who feel the same as I do, and so I didn't realize how worried many people are. And so if I would've had the whole picture last week, my email would've been very different. It’s also worth clarifying a few things based on the discussions I’ve had with followers: 1. Immune has been 9 months in the making. The timing is truly coincidence, not an attempt to wring a few bucks out of a global crisis. 2. The financial implications are irrelevant to the business. I have a couple thousand bottles of Immune and sell over 50,000 bottles of product per month. 3. I believe releasing Immune now is better than after COVID-19 has passed, because it may help some people not get infected and recover faster if they do. This is pure speculation, of course, but I do think it's a reasonable statement given the [evidence]( of the effectiveness of the ingredients with other viral infections. Additionally, let’s not forget that there are many other obnoxious bugs going around that the ingredients in Immune have been proven effective against (the reason we made the product in the first place). 4. I didn't realize "immune booster" is a stigmatized term and "immune support" is more acceptable, regardless of whether something “boosts” the immune system or not. For instance, the available evidence suggests that eating a clove or two of raw garlic every day will literally “boost” your immune system (dictionary definition), but some ex-spurts would vehemently deny this and insist it can only “assist” or “support” the immune system. One reason for this is the “immune boosting” well has been poisoned by scammers selling vitamin C and lysine pills. Semantics are fun, aren’t they? Well anyway, now that I’ve downed a heaping helping of delicious humble pie, I’m going to get back to working on something you might like: Advice on working out from home! Look for the email later this week! Ciao for now, Mike P.S. To help minimize the consequences of the outbreak, we should stay calm and take reasonable precautions, including . . . - Social distancing - Washing hands frequently - Avoiding touching eyes, nose, and mouth - Practicing respiratory hygiene (covering mouth and nose with bent elbow or tissue when we cough or sneeze, and dispose of tissues immediately) - Seeking medical care early in the case of fever, cough, or difficulty breathing If we all do those things, we can help stem the spread of the virus and buy time for public health officials and professionals to prepare, get more resources and equipment, and ensure everyone who needs treatment gets it. P.P.S. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
